I DON'T SUPPOSE THERE'S ANY CHANCE OF PERSUADING THE HUSBAND TO DO THE BAKERY JOB? smiley - sadfacesmiley - erm

Bel, it sounds to me as if you have found out more than enough already, it sounds like cheap labour to me, with no perks to make up for it.

I am always in favour of giving a new job a fair go, but this sounds ridiculous. You are better out of there - you are worth better than that, and for once I think the husband is right smiley - grrsmiley - smiley

"any differences in the cash register would be subtracted from the wages"

I'm sure that's illegal.

Have you signed anything?

No, but I've quit today.

I don't know whether or not it's illegal, I think it's done in the large stores, too, but then everybody there have their own cash box, so they don't risk to pay for others' mistakes, just for their own.

However, learning this was the last straw. With wages that low, I'm not going to take the risk of having even less at the end of the month. After all, I'm not sure how she would prove it, she's the only one who knows how much money actually was in the cash register.

smiley - applause I think you did the right thing, Bel. You'd really have been selling yourself short if you'd stayed there. smiley - hug

You are right. But then I had to try, or else I'd naver have known. smiley - smiley

I've never before had a job with such low wages, even when I was cleaning a shop three times a week during my years as student I got DM7.00 - which, as we all know, is equivalent to €7.00 nowadays.

I haven't got any money yet, but I'll go and bring the washed and ironed 'uniform' on Wednesday or Thursday this week, and I hope I'll find out then.

If the till doesn't balance, it's most likely that the wrong amount has been rung up. They can't just accuse someone of stealing money like that.

And what if there was too much money in the till - would they let you keep the balance? smiley - erm

I don't blame you, either, Bel. When I read that hey deducted from your wages for cash register shortages... that's not legal here (though while bartending I did work for a creep who took out for broken glasses) and I doubt it is there, but it's not worth the risk. Especially when it was so exhausting and they demanded that you be there after holidays. I *might* consider that for a full-time job with benefits, but for a part time job, no way.

Sorry it didn't work out, but good on you for giving it your best.

PC, I've started a new game - you'll wish you never asked, though. smiley - laugh

Bea, PBS never got the email for that game, so he doesn't have a link.

I have started another one now, hoping he'll get the email this time. smiley - ok
