Bel, there is a windows version. I would not have posted otherwise.

Thanks, pheloxi. I don't really think I need yet another browser, though.
Oh, and I just found this:

Well, I think I've got rid of it now. Search didn't give me any results anymore after I had deleted willy-nilly everything containing 'chrome' it the name. That was so much that I specified by date in the end.
Still, i wonder what Firefox chrome folders there are - and I wonder what else I have deleted.

There isn't a Mac version of Google's browser yet so it would be silly to comment. Also I have never uses IE (other than when forced to use a Pee-Sea) and I have few complaints about Firefox other than the new version that downloaded itself 'looks' exactly like Safari so I don't know which one I am using unless I look in the top left-hand corner.
Good luck anyway and if there is anything out there to dent Microsoft's domination, I'd support it!

I think you can swap the skins on most browsers...

Well, with terms and conditions as pointed out here
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/09/03/google_chrome_eula_sucks/
it's hopefully not Google Chroma to dent MS.

"I can't see the results immediately when editing in notepad. I always do my editing in Brunel, on hootoo."
I'm too old to edit on h2g2. Too many times it lost what I was editing. I use notepad or ultra edit. I've not noticed Firefox being very slow, but Opera is my main browser. I barely use IE, and then only for things that won't work properly in either of the others.
Not bothered with the new browser yet. Google is getting everywhere and I'm not keen.

I just use the Notes on Opera to write entries, since they even save automatically if it crashes... Also the only non-American browser, which I think should be supported. But to each their own!
That EULA's just totally put me off, though.

Mina, I've lost all that wasn't saved somewhere online too often now to rely on things I've edited offline and saved on my hard drive. Short things, I just write in Outlook Express, to avoid the horrible MS Word. Longer things, I write in Google Docs, which saves automatically every two minutes or so, so even if my browser crashes, it's not all lost.
However, putting things into guide ml and checking is still somnething I do on hootoo, and in Brunel. If you update often enough, you won't lose everything when hootoo plays silly buggers.
What I've seen of the Google browser when trying it today was not a convincing performance, and with what's written in the Eula link just adds to the reasons not to use this specific browser.

Google Docs has exactly the same TOS, Bel, so if you're worried about Chrome, you should worry about Docs as well!
Looks like they're changing the license agreement, anyway:

Night Prof, sleep well.
Rich, in that article it says that google docs changed the TOS - or do I undertsnad that wrong?

Section 11 now simply reads:
11. Content licence from you
11.1 You retain copyright and any other rights that you already hold in Content that you submit, post or display on or through the Services.

Bit more digging:

Both Docs and Chrome appear to be safe to use.

I've just deleted all my docs.
Not that they weren't mine, mind, but I want to decide whom I share them with.

"Short things, I just write in Outlook Express"
Glad I'm not the only one who does this! I've usually got all my links code on an email somewhere.
in 12 years of owning a computer I've only lost my data once, and that was a couple of months ago when adjusting to the fragility of a laptop! h2g2 is better now than it has been in the past, but still I don't 100% trust it.

In over twenty years of using a computer I have only lost documents twice - both times because the computer was stolen and the second time 'not much' as everything important was copied elsewhere.
But then Macs don't just look better!

But Macs are something only few can afford here. They're very expensive.
Mina, my drafts folder is longer than my inbox in Outlook.
I just use it for every bit of writing I do.
