I might give it another go now they've amended the ToS.
I guess it's really a matter of getting used to something new.

Apparently, there's a good Post article coming out about Google Chrome, written by one of h2g2's top technical experts. I think.

In a triumph of pigheadedness over the recommendations of everyone on the internet I've downloaded IE8.
It promises to be faster. Not that I can tell. In fact, the only difference I've noticed so far is the annoying "Internet Explorer is currently running with add-ons disabled" toolbar thingy across the top of the page (below the tabs). So I clicked on it, enabled all the add-ons...yet it won't go away.
Also, none of the tabs seem to be different colours - wasn't this supposed to be a feature?
Other than that, it looks almost exactly the same. And as I say, not noticeably quicker. So what's the point of it?

This is rubbish. It won't open Yahoo! Mail or other Yahoo! applications.
How do I get back to IE7?

Can't you delete IE8, then download IE7?
I intended to try IE8, but stopped the download the moment it wanted to check my PC. WtF for?? If it's a free browser, of what importance is it which OS I have?

You can't completely uninstall IE on a Windows system - because then it uninstalls your File Explorer, too!
Easiest way to roll back would be to do a system restore.

No idea, RF. Hope that Mala knows it. I would know on my old PC, but this one is completely different (having windows in English to start with), and I can't find half of the stuff I used to know where it was on *my* PC.

I'll assume you're in Windows XP...
Save your work (all documents, e-mails, etc will still be there!) and then close your programs.
Start Menu -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools, -> System Restore.
Select "Restore to an earlier point" (not "set restore point") and then you'll get a calendar where you can pick a restore point - unless you fiddled with the settings, it'll have set one before every install.
Pick the nearest one before you installed IE8, and run it - it'll take a few minutes, and restart itself.
You might have to re-update your Antivir, but that should be it.

Nothing is that easy with IE, it never worked when I tried to do it on my old PC. However, it's worth a try.
