Galaxy Babe - eclectic editor

smiley - hug
I wasn't sorry when my girls moved out, they had fought like two wildcats for years, with me as referee, but when #1 son left because #2 son was driving him nuts (he was my helper, my live-in babysitter, my anchor stopping me from jumping off the nearest bridge) I smiley - wah and it took me a long time to stop missing him. Now #2 son is much easier to live with and I'm grateful I'm still here.

That's in the eye of the beholder. Ask either of my sons and they'll tell you I look ancient. smiley - biggrin

I'm not really here

I'm pretty sure my mum (and probably my dad) was pleased when I moved out of the house 14 years ago. It was the best thing I could have done for my relationship with my mum as we've got along much better ever since. I've always sworn I'll never go back, as we'd just go back to how we were.

Sorry, I stopped a bit abruptly. I meant to add that perhaps the same will happen with your son and his dad and brother. They'll be all manly and want to go to the pub for a few drinks. Even if it takes a while.

I really hope you're right, Mina. The relationship of the brothers isn't too bad, really. They're just fighting and arguing like siblings do. The relation with his dad, however, is completely destroyed. I expect it to take many years for it to get better.

Obviously I don't know what's happened, or how they are, but I hope it does get better soon. My dad is 'harder' in his feelings than my mum - but even the one son who has been stealing from the family for about 20 years now he'll still take out sometimes. smiley - cuddle Mind you, it has taken a long time, and still they argue a lot.

The thing that happened was that my son dropped out of school, the proceeded to do nothing at all for a while. Then we managed to find something for hoim to do (which he started on 1st August), but his dad chuecked him out from one day to the next - well knowing that he had nowhere to go, and no money. In the end we came to the agreement that our son xould come here anytime (he lived with friends, but his friends still live with their parents...).
So the few times when my son came here because neither of his friends was at home, he was made very unwelcome by his dad - and partly by his brother.

MMF - Keeper of Mustelids, with added P.M.A., is now in a relationship.

Bel, I wish you both well. I once heard that Sons gravitate towards Mothers, and Daughters do the opposite... However I know in your case, and many others, that isn't strictly true, however I still hope all works well.

Family are always tricky. I find the tortoise approach best... Conflict? Pull the head in and keep smiley - shhh and small... Party? Stick head out and dive straight into the celery.

As he isn't that far away, I'm sure it will resolve itself. It depends on how dogmatic and obtuse both sides are. smiley - groan Don't I know that record!!!

smiley - hug and smiley - cuddle and smiley - goodluck with tomorrow! smiley - kiss

And special to fledgling!!! smiley - chick

Thank you, MMF.

Tortoise, eh?

I'm a mother, I can't pull my head in when it is about my children. Any other situation, though, yes, it's certainly what I do. smiley - biggrin

I don't see the situation between dad and son resolve itself, but then I am past caring by bow.

Malabarista - now with added pony

Actually, when it was aired, the Addams Family portrayed the most "wholesome" family on American television. Both parents were there, showed affection to eachother and slept in the same bed, spent lots of time and attention on their children...smiley - winkeye
