Hello Simon
I trust you're feeling a bit better. I had a bit of an off day yesterday...perhaps as a result of doing too much the day before. Been better today but it's now really hot here...several days of constant sunshine is beginning to bite. I presume you'll be coming back this weekend in which case you'll be coming back to a heatwave!
If I don't speak before, I hope the journey goes well. Let me know how you get on.
Take care
Helen

Welcome back. I hope Naples Airport wasn't too awful - I remember the heat well. Not sure whether the enormous shed that is Arrivals is better or worse than Departures. One was like being in an enormous greenhouse, the other had rather inadequate seating
I hope work is ok and that the knee holds up - in more ways than one (Poor joke...sorry)

Then back to the over humidified UK!
Hows the schnozzle?

Sorry about the knee...nose is getting better thanks.
We had a big thunderstorm this morning but it's still warm and now very overcast again.
Are you back at work tomorrow then?

No work yet - I'm just trying to drive again - I exoect to start properly again next week - -but mean while my assistant is off on her holidays - so I'll try and start half time working maybe Thursday or Friday
It's still hot and dry - well not raining - down here. Alledgedly the cooler winds click in on the 'morrow - alledgedly¬!¬
Where abouts were you in Italy - just Naples or elsewhere?

LadyChatterly Posted Aug 11, 2003
We have had yet more rain but it's still warm...not sure how i feel about it...it's nice to be just about bearable but i do like the sunshine
I was on Ischia so flew in and out of Naples.
Is it permitted to ask yet another question re computers? Just to put you on the track...re popups?
If you've had enough of it just say...I'm not offended if you tell me to b***** off
Let me know how the driving's going...I've got the blinding headache again...I think it may be blocked up again

Thanks
I keep getting these annoying popups whenever I log onto sites...is there any way i can stop this happening? For example, it happens on here when i try to type my nick - blocks everything and of course with XP, can also cause everything to crash. It does however happen on several other sites too. Blooming annoying to say the lease!
Did you watch 'Spooks' this evening?
tip?
Shhhhhh........due to circumstances and stuff - I think I'm back now! and a bit of front :-) Posted Aug 13, 2003
Ugh - you certainly shouldn't get pop-ups when you type anything on here - could be lots of things from your security settings on internet explorer for example
I'll do a bit of research and come back to you
Also it's worth going to the ~Macafee site and downloading the anti virus thing for the BLASTER virus which is going round a lot at the moment - even if you havenbt got it - it's worth it just anyway
tip?
Shhhhhh........due to circumstances and stuff - I think I'm back now! and a bit of front :-) Posted Aug 13, 2003
had a little look around - there's a few anti pop-up programs you could use - if you go to http:\\www.google.co.uk and type anti-popups in the search engine there's a few that coulpd help!
My typing is getting worse - comes of balancing a laptop on my knee..............the bad one!

Thanks very much Simon.
I actually have Norton Antivirus on here - should be ok I think but I'll update just in case. I'll look for the site you mentioned later.
I was up early this morning - baking :o) Then i spent about 2 hours on here trying to add text to a pic of the Tyne Bridge I'm sending to my son's girlfriend for her birthday! I have added text before, i just couldn't remember how to do it - I really don't understand about the layers - no matter how often I read the words!
I've finally done it, added a couple of nice borders and then it suddenly shrank itself (is shrank a word?)
To compensate i increased the size and of course once the email got underway, I realised it would take them ten mins to download and it's too big for the screen!! Quelle idiot!
I am fluent in typoese btw

Hi Helen
Baking what is the question!? I made bread this morning - but on the other hand I've aquired a machine so I'm cheating really!
What software were you using for the Text to graphics thing? Trouble is of course that each software package uses slightly differing methods!
typoses eh! Multi talented for certain
I'm not even ambidexterous!

It's a very odd thing but although i used to make splendid pizza dough - in the days when pizza was a novelty and was usually home made - I've never been successful with bread!
I'm baking for Emma's party at the weekend. Her request was for apple pies which I'll make on Friday when i get there, but up to now I've also made two chocolate cakes, two madeira cakes, 3 walnut breads and tomorrow I'll make batch flapjack. If I have time I'll also make two large quiche lorraines
In between, I've written a reference for someone who left school in July and I'm still dealing with the correspondence re youngest son's car. Also took dog out for walk...well...knock about with tennis racquet and ball
Paint Shop Pro 7 which I bought when i got the new machine...it's so much more difficult to use than PSP 5 which I got for nothing from school - is there a moral in there somewhere?
I've just rung New Zealand for the second time this week to wish son's g/f happy birthday and also re the damned car! I will need to take out a second mortgage to finance the phone bill at 49 per minute! Apparently it's very cold sleeping in the camper van at this time of year. They're going to have hot mud baths today as a birthday treat
How's the driving going? You're not thinking of driving to cricket this Saturday I hope

Hi Helen My what a busy life you lead! Where does Emma live?
I know the PSP programs - too involved for what I do - but a lot of people go for them.
I'm beginning to drive again - may even attempt work soon! I won't be able to play again this season though - I've been seriously thinking about giving it up - as I get older and less fit it's begging to tell on me!
~OH well - have a good one won't you!

Hi Simon
She lives in the West Midlands...I'm going to try and get off reasonably promptly tomorrow - the dog went into kennels this afternoon - we can't cope with her, the children, sixty people and the cats
I've thrown a million things into a suitcase as usual - I never travel light - it doesn't seem to be in my nature!
It's complicated by all the baking I've done which is in the freezer, the ingredients i need to take for what has to be cooked tomorrow and the utensils I have to take because they don't cook much and aren't properly equipped! lol I even have to take a milk pan!!
Went into school for A Level results today - lots of hugs!
I hope your knee is better than my face which seems to be swelling up alarmingly - very fetching for a social event!
I hope all goes well next week and I'll be in touch when I get back.
Take care
Helen

A long trip for you then - can't understand peeps whp won't/can't cook - wonder if there's an imterest in food at all?
Great shame - but sorry - one of my soap boxes I'm afraid
I'm sure your face will improved - I've been through several ups and downs with my knee - for no apparent reason!
We'll chat when you get back eh!
Have a great party
Simon

Hello Simon :o)
I just got back on Thursday afternoon - it went ok - they seemed to think it was the best they've had so they were happy and there were lots of compliments re the home baking :o)
GCSE's were fine - everyone through ok so that was a relief.
I'm seriously considering going to NZ/Aus now - my HOD says I could easily get work marking exam papers so I could use that to finance my trip. Incidentally, the cost of putting the dog in kennels will be over £200!
Jonnie and Kate are snowboarding now, having jumped out of a plane last week :o)
And how are you? More precisely, how is the knee? And, are you driving yet? Did I ask you which knee you injured? (Another senior moment perhaps?) :o)
Let me know how you're getting on.
Helen

Hiya Helen
Good for you with the party and the GCSE's
NZ sounds great - especially if you can work a bit while you're there - I'd quite fancy a trip down there
The knee is begging to improve - it's my right so driving is a pain but I'm managing at the moment - just long trips make me wince when I get out of the car!
Take care

I may be going to Spain now as well - I wish I had the funds for this lifestyle I'm wanting to lead
On balance I think the right is better (to be poorly) unless you have an automatice vehicle, however, I don't envy you what with the cooler weather coming on and everything. (I sound exactly like an old bat there!)
Isn't it cold today? I've just been up and put more clothes on - I don't like it!!
Helen
