Blackadder
Orcus Posted Apr 29, 2003
I'd always put in a good word for the much maligned first series. When Baldric was the clever one! I love it.
The Spanish Infanta is classic as is the Witchsmeller Pursuivant or "Old big nose is back" the One with Angus MacDougal, the evil thieving Scottish Orang Utang is also still brilliant.
And my favourite line from Blackadder - oh so hard to choose....
"Oh god! He's a Morris Dancer A Bunch of iffeminate men prancing about with hankies. How it's still going on in this day and age I'll never know" (Said By Prince Edmund in about 1392 )
Others...(i'll leave out ones already said)
"So you don't know the way to France either?"
"No"
"Bugger!"
"So in terms of Privies we have a front wall orifice with a wide guttering facility below"
"You mean you crap out of the window"
"Yes!"
"Good, I can't stand those dirty indoor things."
"Blackadder, you twist and turn like a....Twisty turny thing"
(You can tell I like Series II, too huh? For me it went downhill a bit [But not too much] with the demise of Percy)
"I may have the body of a weak and feeble woman but I have the heart and stomach of a Concrete Elephant!"
"Good evening Ma'am, sorry about the bag, didn't have time to shave"
"...my father was Ploppy the Slopper, it was from him that I inherited my fascinating collection of skin diseases"
"Well where have we got so far.... 'a' Personal pronoun....doesn't really mean anything....We're going to die"
"Belive me Baldric, eternity in Hell with satan and all his minions is going to be nothing compared to five minute with me and THIS pencil!"
I could go on ad nauseum...
Favourite episodes per series...
Series one - The Queen of Spain's Beard
Series II - Money
Series III - Dictionary
Series IV - the one with the dead Pigeon

Hmm, favourite series- Series 2
Favourite episodes:
1) Goodbyeeee from series 4
2) the one with the election in series 3
3) the one with Bob in series 2
4) The Cavalier Years
I'm very bad at remembering episode titles, despite having every episode on DVD, and the script boook. Ah well.

I can never remember the titles, although I do a,ways remember 'Head' for some reason, although it's not one of my favourites to be honest. Too far-fetched. Far fetched! What am I talking about?

"Oh Edmund, can it be true? That we alone, in all the world, can make the purest green? "
Can't believe I missed that one yesterday

"That means that you, Percy, Lord Percy... are an utter berk!"
"The working classes are so poor that they are forced to have more children to provide an alternative to turkey at Christmas."
The last one's probably slightly wrong, but it was bloody funny!

Ah Mrs.Scratchit, you may have the body of a weak and feeble woman, but the mind of a criminal genious!
(From Blackadder's Christmas Carol).

My personal favourite (if I had to choose one) would be Witchsmeller Persuivant from Series 1.
Another good quote from series 2:
- Tell me young crone is this Putney?
- That it be...that it be.
- "Yes it is", not "that it be". You don't have to talk in that stupid voice to me. I'm not a tourist. I seek information about a Wisewoman....

"Ah, the Wisewoman, the Wisewoman, two things my lord must ye know about the Wisewoman..."
"Yes..."
"One: she is.....
a WOMAN"
"Two: She is..."
"Wise?"
"Oh, you do know her then?"
"Know, just a wild stab in the dark, which incidentally is what you'll be getting if you don't start being more helpful"
