SRI LANKA...HELP!!

I am not geographicallly competent,much to my shame it was a subject i hated at school
We have friends who went to sri lanka to start a new life in october 2004,and try as we might we cannot contact them since the terrible tragedy .We don't know if they were in the areas affected,could anyone help please.
I would not normally put any address up,but i feel this is one of those situations where needs must.

A friend of ours has tried the usual channels.but as they weren't tourisits there is no nformation.

I would just like to say thank you to all my friends for their support over the last year,and wish you all A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS,AND A WONDERFUL 2005.
There are so many people that i see regularly in various threads,and don't get the chance to "chat " with,and i wish them the same,(i really must make a point of saying hi to them more often).
HEALTH AND HAPPINESS TO EVERYONE.

This has to be the hardest entry i have ever made.Today my mum passed away,after been in hospital for over three weeks.I am sad,but her pain has gone,and she isn't suffering anymore.I am sure she is in a better place,and looking down on us all ,,wanting us to not hurt.

A LITTLE GRUMBLE!!!!

Do'es anyone else have a problem getting to see a GP?????
I have been "off colour"since last week,and decided i relly ought to see a doctor,as i wasn't improving by yesterday.I duly rung for an appointment,for the evening surgery,but they were full!!!!!"Okay,what about tomorrow" i asked."Sorry,were booked up all week".
No,I can't get to the morning surgery,there's nobody to take me,and i can't get out alone.
My glands are swollen in my neck,and my ears hurt,AND i have a lump in my tongue,and a nasty cough.It was agreed that i should ring back today,"maybe someone will cancel",or you could ask for a home visit".
Maybe someone out there will need a home visit a lot more than i do 
.
Oh well,still no appointments,and now i have to ring back after lunch,I never did find out why,just said thank you ,and hung up
.
WHY DID I DO THAT??????I really wanted to say"look,i feel rough,dont want the doctor coming out when i can make it to the surgery,he has enough to do,just give me an appointment.Besides,people are been removed from the doctors lists for missing an appointmetment lately,so maybe he'll think i didn't need a home visit and then what!!!!!
It never used to be a mammoth task to see a doctor if you were ill,what happened?????
GRUMBLE OVER,,,,,,THANKS FOR LISTENING!

CARE(depends on your point of view)

Well today has been a little traumatic(again)!!
As most friends know my mother is in hospital after having a fall at the residential home she has lived in for the past
six years.SShe had this THIRD fall after been out of hospital for about twelve days,after having a hip replacement,due to fracturing her hip in the second fall.
A few weeks ago she was taking herself for a walk round the home ,and to the loo,and feeding herself when her meals arrived.Today we have had to go looking for a nursing home for her,because she can't do any of these things now,so can no longer stay in her home of the past six years.
The people that were so caring,and so happy when we saved the home from the threat of closure,haven't even asked how she is???
Now it is going to cost around £500 a week for the extra care she needs!!!!!!So much for her carers,the people I called her extended family!!!! And so much for the governments "care for the elderly"policies.
