A LITTLE GRUMBLE!!!!

Do'es anyone else have a problem getting to see a GP?????
I have been "off colour"since last week, and decided i relly ought to see a doctor,as i wasn't improving by yesterday.I duly rung for an appointment, for the evening surgery, but they were full!!!!!"Okay, what about tomorrow" i asked."Sorry, were booked up all week".smiley - steam
No,I can't get to the morning surgery, there's nobody to take me,and i can't get out alone.
My glands are swollen in my neck, and my ears hurt,AND i have a lump in my tongue, and a nasty cough. It was agreed that i should ring back today,"maybe someone will cancel",or you could ask for a home visit".
Maybe someone out there will need a home visit a lot more than i do smiley - erm.
Oh well, still no appointments, and now i have to ring back after lunch,I never did find out why, just said thank you ,and hung upsmiley - flustered.
WHY DID I DO THAT??????I really wanted to say"look,i feel rough, dont want the doctor coming out when i can make it to the surgery,he has enough to do,just give me an appointment.Besides, people are been removed from the doctors lists for missing an appointmetment lately,so maybe he'll think i didn't need a home visit and then what!!!!!
It never used to be a mammoth task to see a doctor if you were ill, what happened?????
GRUMBLE OVER,,,,,,THANKS FOR LISTENING!smiley - smileyxx

hi sal.

i know its a bit more difficult for you, mobility wise...
but our surgery has a an open session every morning from 8.30 till 10.. where, if you are prepared to sit and wait your turn, you are seen without question.. usually you are seen within about hlaf an hour and if you just need a sick note or something simple, its easier than waiting for the appointments later on in the day.

i know its not the answer to your problems, and i would have thought that as they know your medical history, they should be more willing to accommodate you, in your hour of need.

I know what you mean Sal,and I feel sorry for you. We had exactly the same when we lived up Northsmiley - erm Our doctor service just could not cope with the increase on demand with all the White Settlers moving into our townsmiley - erm

We had to give them 3 weeks notice of being sicksmiley - laugh

We are very lucky down here as the doctor service is fantastic!!
In fact, when and if we ever come to move, it will have to be in their catchment area, as they are so good to Mk2.

One day (when I was at work 2 years ago) she phoned up and could hardly breath, they knew her voice, and the doctor was round within 3 mins with a nebulisersmiley - magic Now thats what I call great!!smiley - magicsmiley - ok
smiley - cheersSmudger,

That is good service smudger, and it's nice to know that they knew MK2'S voice as well.It makes you feel less like just a numbersmiley - applause
HELEN,we have a morning surgery, just like yours, but there's nobody to take mesmiley - sadface.Ihave to explain every time to them, and then all they say is that they have no appointments!!!I don't call them out,but i get really cross every time this happens.
Thanks to everyone for their concern though, maybe it'll do me more good than a visit to the doctor!!!smiley - somersault

abbi normal "Putting on the Ritz" with Dr Frankenstein

Just sent you an email smurfles.
My computer works for about 10-15 minutes at a time to not at all for hours to dayssmiley - cross

Hope you can get in.
Call first thing every day until you do.
Hope it's better there than here.

It is normal procedure with many setups here to have to call at 7 am to get on a list for an emergency appointment.
Normal Appointments easily take 10-21 days.

smiley - sadfaceDon't go to the nursing home while infectedsmiley - yikes
Hope you feel better soon , you sound miserablesmiley - cuddle

Last time I rang the doctor, they didn't have any appointments for about 5 days. However, when I insisted that I needed to see someone that day, I was invited to go along at the end of surgery as an emergency patient and just wait until a doctor could see me, which I did.

Sal - if you can't get to their morning free-for-all-no-appointment-necessary session, then I suggest you do take up the option of a home visit. That's what home visits are for - for people like you who have problems getting to the surgery.

Mind you, if your GP is anything like the doctors where I'm registered, they'll tell you it's a virus and they can't do anything for you anywaysmiley - erm

Hope you feel better soon.

Hi Sal.. smiley - hug
Sorry to hear you're feeling rough luv.. smiley - sadface
I'm not well meself at the mo. Bad case of cystitis..
Our doc.'s not too bad appointment wise at the mo.. They used to do the free-for-all mornings, but now it's all appoinments.. We can, if we wish, speak over the phone to the doc., and sometimes he'll leave a prescription at reception if he knows what's wrong..
I phoned ours yesterday about me cystitis, doc. was busy but the recetionist said she'd pass on a msg. and get me a prescription to save me phoning back..
I agree tho', it's rediculous having to wait so long... You get the bugger to come out to see you, don't just sit there suffering girl.. That's what they're paid for... smiley - cuddle
