I tried googling the names and didn't get anything, maybe this site would be useful?
http://www.contactsrilanka.org/
If you skim through these headlines, you can see mention of south, east, northeast but no mention of problems in western sri lanka. Its nothing definate I know, but communications are probably down no matter what region you are in.

Its confusing, the western province includes Columbo the capital which was flooded but seems to be okayish now
this website

said this
'Economists say one reason Sri Lanka's economy can overcome the disaster is that the tidal waves left the island's industrial heartland largely intact. Its western province, which includes the prosperous seaside capital Colombo, generates nearly half the country's GDP.'
which seems to be positive

Thanks abbi,,,still no news, but more worrying ,stil no contact.I can understand there not been news, but contact was always maintained.
