well sorry about that everyone..my keyboard went peculiar!!!!
i dont thinkits strange to keep stitches, and teeth.....pople keep allsort of thngs that hold special meanings for them,,,and special..sometimes traumatic... memories.my grandchildren all havethe first teeth they lost, and i have my daughters wrist band from when she had her appendix out.i also have the cards i got when my girs were born, and my21st cards.i have my notes from when i ws pregnant.and my own school reports...which say i day dream...maybe they were trying to tell me something back then!!!
my eldest daughter collects gollys nats.she loves them.
i have some pictures that the grandchildren did when they were little, and odd things that they made me,,,and the first cards they wrote for me!!!
i think a lot of people love to keep things like that,,,its all part of ur past,
i think my keyboard is gonna be a thing of the past before long too!!!xxx

Hi Sal
Send it into orbit like a flying frisbe, cos that's what Carol and i want to do, oh also Stuey wants to do that aswell lol
I have even some of my old school reports, aswell as all my certificates.
I have even got all my birthday cards since i was born, and from the age of 7 to 28.
I hardly get them anymore, that's if they remember i get them that is.
I agree with you over the stuff we have is part of the past, and they all bring back good memorys.
Hence the title you brought up

smurfles Posted Sep 29, 2003

Ah! Yes Smurfles, it would be great if we could shut out the nightmares! yet hang on to the sweet dreams
Its how a memory comes racing back with just a smell, or a tune, or a picture Pity we cant stop the bad ones coming back through the same ways
Smudger.
MEMORY LANE!!!
smurfles Posted Sep 29, 2003
icouldnt agree more smudger....the bad ones are the ones that cause us much heartache sometimes..........but i suppose we have to remind ourselves that theyre part of life.it would e lovely to just have good things to think about .xxx

Well i feel the same way Sal, so two minds think alike lol
I wish there were no bad memory's, cos i wouldn't be like this now would i ??
Oh well they are the past and we can't escape them, i wish that they could switch off, with a switch of a button.
Well i have plenty of good memories, especially of my nan, brother Ken, and my Dad.
Now they were the best, they had my life worth living for.
for going on like that, but that was my emotions coming out.

Hula hoops the crisps, or the plastic toy that few mastered? I remember both, though the memories are fonder of the crisps! M little one loves them, and we constantly have a multipack around, but now I have grown up I cant see the appeal.
Oh and smurfles, was that posting in dutch or welsh? I never knew you were multi lingual!
MEMORY LANE!!!
smurfles Posted Sep 29, 2003
tone..it was my y keyboard.......it did look double dutch though, didnt it???(no disrespect, honestly)i dont know what happened to it,and i still cant use it.hula hoops eh....i used to love them, not the munchy ones....if i tried now i'd fall over!!!!!xxx

serenity Posted Sep 30, 2003
mash is on the paramount channel every night at 7. two episodes... its brill!!!
its one of my favourite programmes as well.
i too have a box of memories tucked away in the attic. things like the tickets and programmes from pop concerts(supertramp, chicago, sparks, john miles, shadows, strawbs and many others)
my scrap books full of things from the 70's(david cassidy, slade, new seekers etc etc) and other newspaper cuttings that meant something at the time.
ive also kept my 21st cards and trinkets, old jewels, the type that turned your fingers green
i still remember my first day at school (1960)
bouffant and beehive hairdo's.
poncho's
thunderbirds, the first time around.
rollerskates that strapped onto your pumps(trainers for the younger element)
mini skirts one day, maxi skirts the next.
hippies and flower people. long flowing dresses and bells around the neck.
woodstock and the isle of wight festivals.
my wedding my divorce
towelling nappies
im going to stop now as the list can be endless after 48 years. im sure its bought some memories to someone
helen

hi helen,i was remembering in a message, just casual, with sheryl and sal,
i,ll add just a few bits
in the 1950s i lived in lancishire,i was abot 8,one day i was taken from school, and was taken to the railway st,where my mother, sisters, where on the platform,un explantion,we came to yorkshire to stay with my aunt and uncle,in a very small house,
i thought it was for an holiday
(from that day on)my life went
from a nice home,to i dont know what.at school i talked diff,so i got bullied,i had no friends, even my cousins friends didnt want to know me.then we moved to a bigger
house,what a laugh,no electric
all gas,we had gone back to the dark ages.
this sounds like a novel,written
in dreamland,beleive me its not.

hiya.
i was born in 1955 and i remember having a coal fire.
this was also the days when peg rugs(which my mom made) were scattered over the brown floor tiles. this was the days before fitted carpets.
we were an all electric house. i never encountered gas, till i did cookery lessons at school when i was 11.
we had plenty of home cooked food. all bought from seperate shops, before super/hypermarkets came along. i still remember my moms co-op dividend number. the only ready cooked meals were fish and chips from a van that called on the estate twice a week.
my mom took in foster children to make ends meet, so there were 4 other children at any one time and me and my brother. so there was always plenty of washing on the line.
im sure i will remember more as the thread goes on
