Lady in a tree

I think it must be furball time...the weather in the UK is warming up and Charlie is grooming himself more to get rid of his winter fur. He hasn't kept much down for the past 2 days. We feed him Hills Maintenance and it comes back up looking much the same as it went in only a bit swollen. There is quite a lot of fur in it too. smiley - yuk

I gave him a treat today - home made chicken liver pate - and hoped he would keep it down! Success! smiley - wow

About 15 minutes ago I took a photo of Charlie on my bed performing CPR on my bunny pj case! It was so funny, I was in tears! Have a look at it here: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/comfychicken/cats/bunny_cpr.jpg

and because I don't think I've ever posted piccies for you to see - and also because I can only just now start to look at them again without sobbing - have at look at these:

What gorgeous photos, Lady!!! Thanks! smiley - ok

The CPR one totally cracked me up. And the two boys together look so beautiful. And also the close up.

Re: Sunny. I didn't see any hair in what came up, which is why I thought it might be something other than a furball. Well, a day or two eating light certainly won't hurt him.

Lovely photos...

I love cats when they get to "kneading" things. Benjamin gets this intense distant look in his face and drools. Kills me every time. (I have a lovely story about my niecy-pie Gabrielle when she was about 4, I will share it at the end).

Every day is "Furball Season" here. benjamin is always gracing us with "gifts" in marvelous and multitudinous size and variety.

Here is a photo of the Very Lucky Misty... http://public.fotki.com/Mudhooks/benjamin_and_other/misty.html

Okay, Gabrielle.

My sister had gotten "Jurassic Park" on video and they had watched it many, many times. It was Gabrielle's favorite movie and every time you can over, you had to watch it with her. I thought it would be horrifying for her. No, she got a delicious thrill watching it cuddled up with the grown-ups in her life.

One day when I came over and had watched about as much as I could take, I wandered out to the kitchen to chat with my sister over a cup of tea. My sister answered the phone on the wall next the hall. As she did so, she looked out into the living-room. Suddelnly, she waved us over frantically trying not to bust a gut.

There was my niece, right in front of the TV doing CPR on her "Light-up Mickey Mouse" doll, along with the scene in the film when the little boy gets electrocuted and his father has to give him CPR. She was doing it right, too. It was hilarious.

Just think...this time next week I could be mummy to a new kitty!! I am getting all excited now!

I have lots of photos of Jake and Charlie that I'd love to share... I'm going to put an on-line album together soon.

Meanwhile here are just a couple more...

Jake in his favourite sleeping position on the arm of the chair!

My boys trying to tell me I'm on the computer too much and "by the way, isn't it time for dinner?"

I have a few more of Jake that were taken 2 days before we lost him, but they are too painful to look at still. I see in them what I didn't see at the time and it makes all the hurt come back. Perhaps a few more months. smiley - cry

Those photos are lovely, Lady smiley - smiley

I was all set to take one of Cassie in the magnolia tree looking like a cheetah, when she saw me, chirruped, dropped down out of the tree and came rushing over for a stroke. I'll have to sneak up more quietly on her next time!

Apparently, Misty is not well. She is drooling profusely and isn't eating. She has been drinking.

My niece will be taking her to the vet this morning. As I understand it, heavy drooling for no apparent reason, especially in cats, suggests something very serious such as Liver disease, Lukemia or Feline AIDS.

Oh dear smiley - cry

I hope everything is OK. It sounds bad but it could be something a lot less life threatening than you think. Jake came in one day when he was about 8 months old with a swollen eye and like Misty, drooling profusely. We rushed him to the vet to be told that he had eaten a bee and the thing had stung him in the roof of his mouth!!

Could it be something Misty ate?

Please let us know though.

All my smiley - love Lady

Also, Mudhooks, I wondered if there was any connection between these symptoms and her recent 'walk on the wild side'. Not sure what that connection might be but anyhow, I agree with logicus - don't panic.

Well....

It turns out that the intake area of the Humane Society is in the midst of an outbreak of Upper Respiratory Infection. The person who let her go, didn't inform my niece and didn't warn her that she should be kept away from the other cat.

The animal hospital wanted $800 to keep her over night and give her IV fluids, antibiotics, and other meds. Since my niece doesn't have that kind of money and neither do we, she said that she would have to put her down. At that point, they said that it would be $180 to give her the antibiotics, IV, and some special food.

Once she got the IV and the antibiotics, she started to perk up. She will have to take her to her own vet on Monday. She has eaten, finally.

Boy, I get so mad when I hear how vets will try to get people to fork out huge sums of money that aren't necessary. It's emotional blackmail.

Well, I hope she gets better.

Afraid outbreak of Upper Respiratory Infection. Have not visited cat rescue centre that has does not suffer from (cat flu)outbreaks, most cats have a tollerence to it when healthy, but like us when run down
get the sniffles and such,(is you cat inoculated).

Out of interest little pink pills where they,(special food and such, for such as the cat only sniffleing, and iv)seems excessive to me.

Had the cat been sick for two or three weeks yes ,most pet cats have enough stored fat and such to go several weeks without eating, water far more importent,

I think Cassie has got hay fever!

She sneezes a lot, otherwise she is fine and eating well, just sneezes!

When the weather isn't doing much, i.e just grey and gloomy she often spends the whole day napping. But if it is raining or sunny she is outside all day. She is so different to any other smiley - cat I've had.

Hello everybody smiley - hug

It's all gone a bit quiet on here so I thought I'd update you on the kitten situation.

The nice lady from Cats Protection came round to see us last Friday for the "home visit" and we were told that we passed all their requirements with flying colours! She mentioned that we are coming up for another kitten season and they would get in touch with us when they are old enough to be homed.

At the moment the temperature in the UK has hit 23°C (73°F) and the cats around here seem to have melted! They are all lying around on the ground looking warm and content - except Charlie who is cuddled up on the bed with his new best friend...Bunny the PJ case!

Hope all cats and their slaves are well, smiley - love Lady

That's great news about the approval, Lady, although it was never in doubt. smiley - smiley

My previous cats have always stretched out in the sun, but Cassie prefers the shade. With the warm nights it is impossible to get her in, I suspect the arrival of the May bugs has something to do with that!

hi Lady,

That's nice you are one step closer to getting another kitten. smiley - smiley

I'm quite enjoying having the twice-weekly vet visits cleverly disguised as English classes. This morning Maria told me that she is going to bring a cone-collar for Lua next week. She said that although the wound around the nipple is clean it is getting bigger from Lua constantly licking it. Apparently I'll only need to put the collar on at night and when I go out. Only? smiley - erm

Meanwhile, Lady, pheloxi, et al - too shy for the photo gallery?
