Hmmmm . . . had a look at the test. I reckon responses over here at 'casa az' would go as follows:
Lua: piss off!
Sunny: duh.
Azar: why aren't you massaging my back paws?

Hey, just had a very nice time at the vet's.
Went over to buy my monthly 5 kilo bag of Hill's CD (anti-kidney stone food) for the boys. And when I tried to use my credit card it was refused! Well, end of the month and all that. So I asked Maria if I could pay part of it in cash and she could try the card again to see if it accepted a lesser amount. And she told me just to come back and pay the balance next week when I had cash again.
Then we had quite a long talk about Lua. I told her how I had switched her food to Whiskas and Friskies and she totally agreed that for Lua short-term pleasure was much more important now.
As for the bleeding nipple, Maria said I should start swabbing it every morning with gauze and hydrogen peroxide to make sure it doesn't become infected. Since it is obviously open and bleeding at times it could quite easily become infected, even from using the litter box.
And *then* Maria asked me if I might start giving her English classes! Bonus! Well, I explained a bit about how I worked and asked her what she needed and we have left it now until I go back next week. But hey! Having the vet come over a couple of times a week for English classes could be very handy, if you know what I mean. At least she could always have a quick look at Lua's tumour and let me know if I should be doing anything more.
Well, also, Maria seems a lovely person and I know I would enjoy giving classes to her. Today she told me that she had just taken in *yet another* street cat. And she went on to 'complain' about how he is *into everything* and smiling the whole time. Like I say, she is lovely.

What a lovely thing to say, blicky - thanks!
One very unpleasant result of the bleeding nipple is that it ends up making Sunny attack Lua (I mean, more than usual). I guess the smell of the blood brings out some basic attack instinct.

Yay! Maria the vet is starting classes with me in two week's time (she is going away next week so thought it best to start when she gets back).
So, since she is soon going to be here two mornings a week between 9-10 I thought *maybe* I could ask her if she wouldn't mind popping in on her way to work one morning this week to have a quick look at Lua and then I could give her one free class for that. I don't think she'd mind. And I really would like Maria to have a look at Lua before she goes on her holiday just to be sure I am doing all that I can for her.
After that Lua will get two 'informal' check-ups a week!

Brilliant! I'd love to have a vet come round to my house every week and ease my paranoia! Every time Charlie sneezes or coughs or vomits I think there must be something wrong!
Kitten news - we are getting a home visit from Cats Protection on the 14th. Linda (from CP) was very apologetic about us having to have another home visit but it is policy if the last one was over 5 years ago. I explained that I was happy to have one every year if necessary...just to have a good old natter about cats if the truth be known!
Hopefully very soon after that we will have a new member of the tribe to look after and spoil and take loads of photos of etc.
The only probelm I can foresee is names...we are looking at getting a little girl and we would like the name to end with an "eee" sound, like Milly or Izzy.
Alternatively - and this was laughed at by Bryan (no sense of humour) - we could call her Angel...then she would be Charlie's Angel!!

hi Lady,
I was just thinking about you this morning and wondering if you'd got a new kitten yet. It sounds quite good that the CP place is so thorough. And I actually quite like the name Angel!
I spoke to Maria this morning and - no problem - she is going to drop by on Thursday morning on her way to work. I told her I would give her a free class and she said - 'oh, don't be silly, woman!' - but of course I will anyhow. Yes, it's going to be a real comfort to know the vet is coming round twice a week, especially under the circumstances.
btw, how old is Charlie?

The RSPCA are very thorough too. I do wonder what actually be an unsuitable home though.
I like Molly for a name. Cassie was already named, so we didn't change it when we adopted her. Some friends have a Sassie, who is terribly shy and sooo sweet.

Charlie was 7 in April, az...just a baby really!
I like Sassie (or Sassy) as a name but it's too much like my parents have named theirs...Suzie and Sally.
I like Angel too...we'll see!

Well, the good news is that, although the tumour is growing, it isn't infected. Maria came over this morning and said that it is just a bit raw looking because Lua keeps licking it. So that's a relief.
Oh, I think I'm really going to like having an in-house vet.

Mudhooks: ,,, busier than a one-legged man in an ass-kicking contest... Posted May 11, 2004
I posted this on Gosho's "Dewey" thread....
My niece's pure-bred Siamese escaped from the house and disappeared a few days ago. She asked Mom to go down to the Humane Society and have a look there for her.
She was there, and thank God, in one piece. Apparently, she had been set-upon by a pack of feral dogs that roams the countryside between the East end of Ottawa and several towns distant. The man who rescued her said the the only thing saving her was that she had jumped into a box and they weren't able to get her. The man drove the dogs off her and took her to the Humane Society.
They "fixed" her (my niece had made an appointment to do so, but she escaped and got pregnant [the cat not the niece]. She had just made another one for her) and "chipped her". She is shaken, but otherwise unhurt. I hope this curbs her wandering ways.

That's one very lucky cat, Mudhooks. Well, now that she has been fixed and has experienced a little walk on the wild side she will stay close to home.
I was woken up during the wee hours by one of the cats throwing up somewhere - we all know that sound - but was too tired to get up and investigate. This morning I found the mess and it was quite unpleasant as there was so much of it. I immediately suspected Sunny (that pig!) but gave them all their breakfast. Ten minutes later Sunny threw his all up again (lovely). And then he went back to bed.
Unfortunately Maria the vet doesn't start her classes here until next week! But I kept Sunny totally off food today until about half an hour ago (10pm) when I gave him a small bit of plain rice and steamed chicken (he was howling so pathetically I had to give him something). And now he looks fine and happy (and hasn't thrown up again), curled up next to me on a chair (Lua is also next to me on her favourite stool - had to pull up an extra chair specially for Sunny so I could reach over and comfort him too).
Live and learn. Last time Lua had gastrointeritis I panicked and took her to the high-tech vets and 120€ of useless tests later they said I just shouldn't feed her for 24 hours and then put her on plain food for five days.
Anyhow, I hope Sunny will be fine now.

I didn't understand that link, logicus.
But yes, I did think it might be a fur ball as what came up was barely digested. So I will try and pick up some malt extract tomorrow as well as some Hill's rice&lamb special food for upset stomachs.
