I found out today that Lua might have a tumour. She has been put on anti-biotics for a week, in case it's just a really bad infection, but the vet said she was quite sure it was a tumour. It's a very hard lump under one of her nipples and it's been bleeding.

Well, as some of you already know, I am feeling quite overwhelmed by sadness and worry. And I thought it would be better to write about this in my journal rather than pester everyone on separate threads.

hi sunny and Roadkill, smiley - smiley

Well, aside from the traumatic trip to the vet's today (Lua screamed her head off all the way there and all the way back - not sure which of us ended up more traumatized) she looks fine and not like a sick cat at all. She is also feeling quite pampered as I bought her some extra special soft food to crush up the anti-biotics into (normally she eats dry food).

Thing is, I only found out about this lump by accident yesterday. Because she is the crankiest thing on four paws and hates being picked up, well, I don't pick her up much. But yesterday morning I had to move her out of my chair when a student came and suddenly I felt this hard lump! Who knows how long it's been there.

*sigh*

Mudhooks: ,,, busier than a one-legged man in an ass-kicking contest...

Oh, Dear. Poor kitty and poor you. I know how hard it is. My niece's beloved Sheena has been diagnosed with cancer. She has a lot ot tumors all over and there isn't much to be done. She got a puppy last night because she knows that Rascal, the other dog took it very hard when his previous companion died.

The only thing they can do is give Sheena lots of love (which she gets normally, anyway) and hope that they have a bit of time with her. She is a loovely dog, part Doberman. She had been abused, as had Rascal, before she was taken in my Jessie. She really is the sweetest of dogs. I am not a "dog person" and so a dog has to be particularily special to fall into the "likeable" category for me. Sheen a, along with Rascal, and my friend's Jack, definitely do.

I am sending you a hug, 'cause I know you need it.... smiley - hug

logicus,

I was reminded today of the time I drove from Salamanca to Sevilla and Lua screamed her head off for eight hours! smiley - headhurts

I don't think the taxi driver was too impressed today but at least it was only a short drive.

Lua doesn't actually 'mieow'. She goes 'ack'. Except when she screams her head off. Have no idea how to write that.

hi Mudhooks and Noggin and Jez! smiley - smiley Hugs much appreciated.

In my experience, Siamese (and the like) cats sort of howl in a rather high-pitch ....AaaaOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! RRRRRAAAAAAAOOOOWWWWWAAARRRRRRR! Sort of gives you the impression that someone is trying to murdelate them.... in fact, they are usually just ticked off.

Benjamin is pretty good when we go to the vet. Up until the point where I have to try and prise him out of the cage with a crowbar. He actully gets into his cat carrier with narry a hesitation.

The howling of tortured zombie babies? At any rate - NOT pleasant.

But I'd rather hear it than not . . . uh oh smiley - wah

Actually, Benjamin learned early on that the best way to get our attention was to stretch as high as he could, with his front paws on the wall, and scrape his nails down the wall repeatedly until we got him what he wanted (usually food).

Yeah, Lua also gets into the carrier no problem and once at the vet's she is good as gold (well, scared sh*tless). It's the 'there and back again' that she finds upsetting.

Last time I had to take Azar to the vet I had to drug him (ever tried putting the Tasmanian Devil into a cat cage?) Luckily this was only once and many many years ago. Last time Sunny went to the vet's the 'crowbar' was also needed to get him out of the carrier and the vet exclaimed 'es un gato sin fin!!!' (a never-ending cat!) She couldn't believe how enormous he was. I had to explain that he is actually a dog.

I don't think you can transcribe a cat scream. You have to do the written equivalent, which instead of mashing about the vocal chords, is mashing about the keyboard. Like so:

tgrmjg+06 ouipdvjkipokm, sa>?XAW4W57+985`/7[LPmklsadfjf;asuyhfiup784RY1J;OKAUIPYR2P`ION54PI`

That's not as good as I thought it would be; my keyboard doesn't mash.

Sorry to hear about Lua, Azahar. Spoil her lots and spoil yourself as well, that sounds a lot like advice you gave me once. smiley - hug

This probably won't help Lua much, but you might find a use for it:

And there's more where that came from, of course.
