You're nicked (taking to prison or similar originally)....in the nick (prison)....cutting nicks or notches to record/measure time. A prisoner's means of measuring his sentence.

"Tuat" does not seem to have much connection to food. It is the name of a tribe living in Northern Algeria. It is also the name for part of the underworld.

Getting back to snot - Is it a "real" word? Then ,of course there's snotty as in snobbish. And what about this "camels-foot" business, whoever invented that one was almost as revolting as Prince Charles, with what he said to Camilla. I'd have swung my lead filled handbag at him! These bloody aristocrats - ain't got no refinement whatsoever!

I find the term, camel's foot, wryly amusing. On a par I think with 'budgie smugglers' in reference to Speedos.

Haven't heard "budgie-smugglers" before, I do hope that it's not based in reality!

I do not know if it is a new phrase but 'right on', when describing anything that is hip or cool.

I don't know for sure, but I think 'budgie smuggler' refers to the practice of smuggling birds by concealing them in one's underpants. And TT, far from being cool, it is meant be derisory and is meant to belittle men who wear briefs when swimming rather than those ridiculous board shorts. As you may gather I am, or was in my younger swimming days, a Speedo man myself. The less you wear when swimming the better.
