Where I worked at the St Luke's hospice charity shop they would call old unsold stock that was going to be sent to their main warehouse to other charity shops as "Takeoffs".

OK, pet hate -
"Begging the question" used as inflated form of "demands the question" or whatever, instead of its real meaning of missing the point, (letting the actual question go begging).
Against phoney inflated speech generally, instead of plain English.

Leveraged
(pronounced the American way of course "Levveraged")

Post 63 was a goof one, Jab.
There's also the overuse of "irony" and "ironic."
(Also, it seems to be in dispute whether our age is one of irony or a complete lack of it.....)

I have a friend who is a civil engineer. His favourite word for any situation is logistics.
Where do you wish to go for a pint?
Lets look at the Logistics. If we go to the Brown Bear we have a 15 minute walk, if we go to the Rat & Parrot it's only 2 minutes, but a rough crowd gets in there..................
yawn bore

I do not if you could consider nerd and geek as new words but I did not hear them until 10 years ago.

A word I have never come across before cropped up in a police program a couple of weeks ago.
The word is 'bilking'. It apparently refes to the crime of filling up the car at a petrol station, then driving off without paying..
'g'

Possibly the first person ever to do this was one Bill King?

I seem to think it was a term of 'endearment' when I worked in Nottinghamshire

A word of my own invention next.
You know the warning signs about picking up 'doggie-doos', the one with lines coming up from the 'leavings'??
I imagined the lines making a sound, and phonetically, the sound
was 'Brank!'

[Gandalfstwin]
Phil Silvers had definitely heard the word as early as 1955, when he starred as Sergeant Ernest Bilko on TV in the U.S. The show made him a star:

Bilking is cheating someone by using false pretenses.
