Where I worked at the St Luke's hospice charity shop they would call old unsold stock that was going to be sent to their main warehouse to other charity shops as "Takeoffs".

OK, pet hate -

"Begging the question" used as inflated form of "demands the question" or whatever, instead of its real meaning of missing the point, (letting the actual question go begging).

Against phoney inflated speech generally, instead of plain English.

There's also the overuse of "irony" and "ironic."

(Also, it seems to be in dispute whether our age is one of irony or a complete lack of it.....)

"basically" - used in front of every sentence

I have a friend who is a civil engineer. His favourite word for any situation is logistics.
Where do you wish to go for a pint?
Lets look at the Logistics. If we go to the Brown Bear we have a 15 minute walk, if we go to the Rat & Parrot it's only 2 minutes, but a rough crowd gets in there..................

A word I have never come across before cropped up in a police program a couple of weeks ago.

The word is 'bilking'. It apparently refes to the crime of filling up the car at a petrol station, then driving off without paying..
