If I ever comme into lots of money, (I live in a council rented masionette flat) I would get a special eco house built. I even researched it as part of a project on what would you do if you won £32 millon pounds. I would use all the energy saving and producing devices, have solar panels. I would also have wind power generators and every other type of sustainable energy device. I would also have special glazed windows that produces energy.

When read about the various types of sustainable energy products, I was amazed of the variety there are and was so exicted about the possibilities.

Great to hear about the arrival of Hootoo smiley - pony donkey and with the subsequent arrival of the other two smiley - ponysmiley - pony

We've got a donkey!!!!!smiley - boingsmiley - somersaultsmiley - biggrin

He's called Hootoo, he's 7months old, & (rae for a donkey) a piebald ;ie: with brown splodges on a grubby white background; goes very nicely colour-scheme wise with both Fritz & Yoda!

He seems to be settling in OK, Yoda & Fritz have both ventured into his temporary holding pen, he's "Eye-Oreing" even as we squeak, which is a bit disconcerting, but seems to mean "I want Attention, plus some nice yummy rolled oats, or failing that, dandelion leaves please....NOW!"

Eddasmiley - dog ignores him "Ho hum, yet another animal"!

Tomorrow, after we've dropped J off for the next stage of her European Tour (anyone living in Paris, emailme quick, she's still looking for a place to stay please!)...we will introduce Hootoo to the smiley - sheep & goat then he gets a huge field to roam around in!

You can call me TC

Don't know anyone in Paris, but we have solar panels on our roof. We converted to wood pellets and solar panels earlier this year and in this recent hot weather have gone for weeks at a stretch without using even the wood pellets - the water has been heating up to nearly 90°C.

Shame - I would have liked to meet Jellen. Hope she found a bed.

Hi Trillians Child, great to see you here!smiley - biggrin; good to know solar panel stuff is spreading! Yes, the water on a sunny day can be incredibly hot; we have a 'dump heater' thing that stores excess, for the days that are without sun or wind.

J has left now, by the way, it's not JEllen, it's a visitor from Italy/S.Africa, i just used the initial 'J'!

Sad day today, Mädchensmiley - sheep died; RIPsmiley - rose, P had hand-reared hersmiley - sadface, so she was special. We are taking her to be post-mortemed tomorrow, just to make sure the other smiley - sheep haven't got something nasty, but in all probability, it's just that she was weaker from the start, not having had the early days colostrum (first milk from mum, which has antibodies in it)

Hootoo donkey is now well settling in, now on Big Field & munching down the jungle, knows his name & i've started grooming his mane a little, soon he may be the prettiest donkey in the County!

Finally managed to attach fly screen to window in my room, so hopefully can sleep without paranoia of drunken wasps attacking me in the night, also hooked up CD player to speakers & computer, so can have smiley - musicalnote while i bother You Lot!smiley - evilgrin

So: what are you all up to these days?

Terri I am very sorry to hear that Mädchensheep smiley - sheep died smiley - rose

Good to hear that the donkey hootoo is settling in well.

Did not have a good night sleep last night and I have been going around in a daze. Went to the library took pick up my book and took with me the book that I was going to take back but when I was at the library I forgot about it and went in and picked my reserved seat and had a little sit down before going back home. I will go back tomorrow morning to the library.

Oh, yes, many is the time i've done that with smiley - book Thinker!smiley - rolleyes

Lil; hope all goes well with the op, dearie me, you really have been through the wars hospital wise lately haven't you?smiley - hug

Busy busy here, we took smiley - sheep to the PM vet yesterday; i mentioned my self injecting incident & asked if they could do some special tests just in case the nasty stuff contributed to poorsmiley - sheep death....?

On the way back discovered a fantastic Asian shop, selling *real* spices & stuff (i can almost hear PC heaving a sigh of relief!smiley - biggrin); bought loads of yummy stuff! So today i unearthed P's ancient lovely Kilner jars, scrubbed them free of cobwebs, he's built a shelf dedicated to curry spicessmiley - drool.

Very windy today, so we have been doing stuff involving high electric consumption; chainsaw, 3 loads of washing, cooking quiche by electric mini-oven, hoovering etc.smiley - puff Plus lit range & dried out a load of wood, made another bucket of smiley - redwine

Last night went to a meeting of the Drama group, i'm looking to direct a one-act play for the Ireland Drama Festival, needs to be sorted fast...main question is: do an already established one, or write one meself?

We got roped into appearing in a locally made film about restauration of the old railway line, so we have to be up early tomorrow, dressed in filthy clothes & muddy wellies, armed with spades...talk about typecast!!!!smiley - rofl

Yodasmiley - cat & Fritzsmiley - cat got a shock today; they were both perched on bathroom window ledge, debating whether to go out or not despite the rain & wind, when suddenly this HUGE face appears in the window & goes "Eye-Or; Eye Or!".....they fled pretty quick; hilarious!!smiley - rofl....i suppose they've only really seen Hootoo from ankle level!

Aw, I never minded shipping you curry spices, Terri. But it's good you've found some locally. Now I can send you different stuff. smiley - winkeye

Still got this cold, with a ripping headache and annoying cough. Ugh.

Terri another thing I used to do was leave my shopping in the shops, or go to the shops with a shopping list and then lose it before I get there.smiley - laugh

There is one thing I would love to make is dahl, I only had it once or twice and it's a very nice curry dish as well as another one I like bombay potatoes.

Poor Yoda smiley - cat and Fritz smiley - cat getting a shock seeing the hoot200 donkey appear at the window.smiley - hug It must have been very funny to see their reaction at hootoo the donkey.smiley - laugh

Yes, their reaction was totally hilarious "WTF is THAT?"smiley - run

Dal is pretty easy; there are various types, depending on which type of lentil you use, i am lucky now 'cos finally found some real ghee (clarified butter) which makes all the difference. As to the spices, best to experiment & see what you like best, Ed & PC have a thread on foodie stuff, plus Jazzed up Curry also had one (where did he go???)

I'm currently re-arranging the spices ' n curry stuff jars on a nice new shelf (smiley - ta P for the erection of said beast!smiley - winkeye, 'tis astonishing what a well- equipped guy with a drill bit & a few screws can do....smiley - evilgrin)

*Ahem*

So: we've had (yet again!) our 15 minutes of fame, now are movie stars, digging up the local disused railway track, along with half the town; this place is amazing, so into drama & music; i feel i have landed in heaven! We have to go back Monday Evening for the next scene "Same costumes, Do Not Wash Wellies!" says director. Meanwhile, i still haven't decided on a 1 Act Play, found several, but they are a bit risqué (ie: smut-ridden) for here maybe....)

It's an amazing little community here, makes me think maybe small towns in rural places try that much harder to do self-made entertainment, rather than relying on outside stuff like T.V; there is always something going on, everyone knows everyone. I was introduced to someone the other day "Ah, so you're P's new woman, we heard he'd got a new woman a year back, grand to meet ye!"

...Which is rather odd, since we hadn't actually met in person a year back!!!! Maybe the Faeries told them?

What sort of 'Community Spirit' goes on where you lot live?
