Pit - ( Carpe Diem - Stay in Bed )

Terri,

smiley - sadface in the part of Hannover where I dwell - nothing doing as to "Community Spirit" - I don´t even know everybody in the house.

Different story in my tiny home town.

http://www.webcam-detmold.de/

For three blocks around everyone is either clan or family friendships go three generations back - in which case DNA comparison might yield interesting results.smiley - evilgrin

Terri the community spirit around here in Ockendon is practically non-existant where I live. The area is dying slowly with so many shops closing and the Adult Education Centre is practically closed down apart from an expensive art course.

Garrgh, just s i suspected....what the hell is wrong with society today?

Ah well, maybe we have to use the dear old internet to help us out...Here is an open invitation to any of "you lot" who i haven't managed to contact via phone: my burfday/Welcome back Yoda/ say hi to Hootoo donkey & fritz smiley - cat, meet P; chill out in boggy green Ireland farm, to contact me. Ideally, the big Paaarty is on Sat 26 Sept, but we are prepared to deal with invasion of fiends any time from 23 to 28th; 1st come get the beds! (And if you can't make it at that time, any other time is fine: mini meets most welcome!)

Hootoo is such an amazing community, here i am listening now to 'Global a Go-Go' (Joe Strummersmiley - rose & mescaleros' via PCCD, previous to that a Skanky Christmas compilation, been on IM with JEllen & Ed Bonobo....'You lot' make my heart sing, i thank you from the bottom of my heart, my fiends!smiley - love

*resists temptation to add smut & reverse 'bottom' and 'heart'; you can take the woman out of the smut, but you can never take the smut out of the woman!smiley - evilgrin

*coughs politely and adopts Official Voice*

Donkey pictures are now available, free of charge to those who have my email address.

*coughs smuttily and adopts Non Official Voice: These include pix of my ass & pussy meeting for the first time; not for the faint-hearted!*

I would love to the photos of your cat and donkey. I think the last time I rode on a donkey must be around 1977.

Nice and sunny day and I will be going to a bbq in the late afternoon.

Thanks for the information about how to make dahl, I am not sure if the big supermarkets sell ghee and I have not seen it in the smaller shops.

Hi Kat, will send donkey pix ASAP!

Hmmm.....Be Warned fellow fiends, i just seem to have joined facebook; i've been deeply Suspicious of this thing, but stumbled across it whilst searching for someone i was in a play with way back in Africa, 'cos i want to direct the same play here, seems he's on facebook & i had to join in order to find him & ask his advice...the weird magic that is computer cookies came up with a whole load of 'You Lot'; lawd knows if i've clicked the right buttons, but i suppose you may get some sort of invite to visit me there?smiley - yikes

Hmm....life is a very weird blend of 21'st Century Technology & Natural Energy!!!

Today i slept in till noon, so P grabbed the modem & wrote up his Solar Inspection reports (ie: earned $$$ for his time, which enables us to continue:

*Planting plants
*Grooming donkey
*Watching swallows
*Eating!!!
*Cleaning porch roof
*Making International phone calls
*More film appearances
*Buying veggie sausages
*Drying out more wood for Winter
*Cooking mushroom & cheese omelette & pizza
*Feeding & counting animals
*Discussing Life, Universe & Everything
*smiley - hugsmiley - smoochsmiley - kiss (repeat after me, ad infinitum!!!)
*hacking down Oirish jungle
*Continuing creation of Curry Zone in kitchen
*Feeding range to ensure the next batch of home-made wine gets going
*Me acting as Secretary on phone to avoid hassles "My Wind Turbine isn't working: help!"smiley - rolleyes"sorry, he's not available at the moment, can i take a message, by the way, if there's no wind, it probably won't be actually producing power, Relax!"

Which brings me neatly back to "Which sodding One Act Play might i be capable of producing?" & hence the Google quest & thus facebook!

Life here in laid back rurality is just one big buzz!!!!!!smiley - biggrinsmiley - somersaultsmiley - puffsmiley - run

Ed: hope your headache is better now...(poor soul has had to endure me butting into him & someone else from hootoo having a nice mellow convo on IM)

JEllen, how's the smiley - zzzgoing?

So: anyone coming here to paaaarty?????

Hi Terri!

I'd heard so many people maligning Facebook on here- the only positives I'd heard were from young kids I wouldn't have anything in common with anyway- but a friend at work coerced me to join and I've since found one of my favorite friends from high school, some hootoo friends I didn't know were on there, and of course a bunch of RL friends and family members. It's actually not bad, and I haven't run into any security issues (mainly because I set my privacy so that only people I know and approve can see me and my stuff). If someone you don't know or don't like tries to add you, you can not only ignore their request, but block them so they can't ever see you at all. smiley - smiley

Not much else going on in RL right now besides work, getting over bronchitis, and house hunting.

"Shindig in the bog"

smiley - rofl

Love it!!!!!!

We've actually got a photo of a sign saying "Bog Lake", well, yeah, no lake without bog reallysmiley - huh & oddly enough, the person i was searching for via facebook has surname of....Bogg!!!!!smiley - rofl

The site seems not so scary as i imagined, as PC says, seems to have security filters in place & not (so far) encountered any idiots; mainly i seem to have 'you lot' plus a few old fiends from RL way back...i could see it as being yet another way to spend all day chatting though, as with OK Cupid...

http://www.okcupid.com/profile/zendevil/

....But since i met P via that site; i have to confess i may be somewhat biased towards it! We are both still on it, but make it plain we are 'seeing someone' though i can't work out how to change some stuff on my profile 'cos my email has changed (same with Couchsurfers, though Hospitality Club is fine with changessmiley - huh)

Have any of 'you lot' been on similar sites, either to meet fiends or for hopeful dating partners? What is/was your experience?

I've tried OK Cupid, and another more dating focused one. I found it a good ego boost in a time where I had lost much of my confidence. Like "Oooh, someone is messaging me, I must not be a total hag". I made a few (very few) new friends, but most of them I have lost contact with again. That's fine, none of them I wanted to date. Some I still exchange messages with, nice people.

smiley - sadfaceOh dear, what sort of problems? Tech stuff (it *does* die on you sometimes) or people pestering you or what?

Milla, know what you mean about online ego boosting when you are feeling yuk smiley - hug; i was delighted to have 42 stalkers the first week; but didn't actually follow any of them up, only have 5 starred two people, one of whom is (obviously!)P. The other one i am still in contact with & he is welcome to visit us. I uploaded another pic on there last night & got a 'Quack Match' weird system, you have to trawl through about ten people till you find one you think isn't a total weirdo; then award them stars; if they are the one who also awarded you same or more stars, the site joyfully screams "You MUST meet up for a date; you are totally compatible!"

Ah what the hell, i've replied & made it plain i am attached, plus no longer live in France; he seems like a nice person & new fiends by whatever means are always a Good Thing in our book!

We don't do 'jealousy' issues, both feel
it's the most destructive element in a relationship; we *trust* each other, there aren't secrets, but there are private spaces, both in RL & online; it seems absolutely essential if you live together usually 24 hrs a day. P's job may involve him travelling for a week per month, but if i'm not with him, we're in daily contact & i get to do stuff i wouldn't do if he was here, so it seems to work.

How do 'you lot' organise the balance between being in a very close relationship, without feeling you are living in each others pockets/losing individuality?

People were pestering me but I when I am on myspace I have learnt how to deal with them by boring them with various facts and figures and it does not take long before they stop bothering me.

>How do 'you lot' organise the balance between being in a very close relationship, without feeling you are living in each others pockets/losing individuality?

That's a question I don't have any idea how to answer. I've never felt for a single second that either of us was in danger of losing our individuality, or in the other's pocket, even though we do a lot of stuff together. Maybe it helps that we don't work together? I dunno. We do both have outside interests- K deejays at least one night a month, has his record club and band practices and gigs. I get plenty of down time to myself. But whether we're watching a movie or playing a game together, or if he's playing a game while I knit or we're both sitting at opposite ends of the couch, reading, I rather like the feeling of being together even if not actually interacting every moment.

Oooh, PC, you knit!!!!

I've just taken it up again, last time i knitted was age around 11!! I used to knit during Math classes, since i was totally convinced i wouldn't understand a thing, i got awy with it, probably 'cos i was nice & quiet & teachers had given up on me in that department!

Since we have vast piles of wool lying around fromsmiley - sheep shearing & can't think what to do with it;played around & discovered that, like riding a bike, it's something that 'does come back'...also it's quite a relaxing, almost meditating activity, slows me down, makes me focus instead of being a smiley - bluebutterfly!

What sort of stuff do you knit, PC?

Any other knitters on here?

I wonder whether there are any male knitters; it is usually seen as primarily a girl thing, but P used to knit & he still sews regularly; far better than i ever did (mind you, his surname in German means "tailor", so maybe it's genetic!!!)

I've only recently taken up knitting, and all I knit right now are rows and rows. Then, I drop a stitch, get annoyed, unravel, and start over. I know how to cast on, and can do either knit or purl. That's it. But I'll let there.

It's something to do with my hands while watching TV or movies without subtitles, besides snacking or something.

Speaking of sewing, since I now have this gorgeous antique treadle-operated machine that belonged to my great-grandmother, I need to learn to sew better. I was really good around junior high age, but stopped doing it and got out of practice. Now I want to repair all my favorite flannel pants, and when I'm done with that, I have some wool skirts that belonged to my gram that are way too big for me, that I'd like to alter to fit me. Wish me luck!
