I find it strangely comforting to know i'm not alone, but i hear you are taking steps in the right direction education wise.
Way to go girl.
Good evening
Emee, out from under the rock Posted May 1, 2003
Thanks! I'm looking at a Masters in Liberal Studies. Basically I get to study whatever I want which is since I'm a bit ADD.
Good evening
airscotia-back by popular demand Posted May 1, 2003
I don't regret many of the decisions i've made in my life, but i do sometimes wonder where i'd be now if i'd continued my education.*muses*
Another sign that old father time is snapping at my heels i guess
I don't get ADD?
Good evening
Emee, out from under the rock Posted May 2, 2003
All the education thing did for me was get me a job that I can't stand most days. Except Fridays when no one's here. Ah yes, Father Time. He's paying me a visit next week.
ADD = attention deficit disorder
Good evening
airscotia-back by popular demand Posted May 2, 2003
I got the ADD thing halfway through today, sharp is not my middle name.
All hail fellow Taurean(not that i know anything about the zodiac),that nasty old Father Time will be annoying me on the 11th'
but my guess is he's bothered me 4 times more than you..
Two great films occured to me today,"Arsenic and old lace" with Cary Grant, and the original brit gangster movie;"Get Carter"(the Caine version obviously).
Good evening
Emee, out from under the rock Posted May 2, 2003
Mine's on the 7th. I will officially be 'almost 30'.
LOVE Arsenic and Old Lace. It's chaos. Haven't seen Get Carter.
I keep listening for the management to leave. Isn't that awful?
Good evening
airscotia-back by popular demand Posted May 2, 2003
I was wrong then,i really am the oldest being(having dragged 30 for a few years).
"Get Carter" very good b/w brit film chilling in it's portrayal of calculated violence, leaves you feeling very uneasy.Michael Caine was a terrific actor before he decided to make his fortune.
Good evening
Emee, out from under the rock Posted May 2, 2003
How many years have you been dragging it then? And hasn't it gotten upset with you for dragging it all over the place?
The first thing I remember seeing Caine in was Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. 'Oklahoma, Oklahoma, Oklahoma' Although that was Steve Martin who said that bit.
Good evening

That old friend thirty has been tagging along behind for so long that i'm just about to introduce him to my new pal,Mr forty.Oh don't, i'm very touchy about it.
Caine was funny in DRS but he has a wealth of real quality before that.In the late 50's early 60's Britain produced some really gritty films reflecting working class people,Caine was in two of the finest "Get Carter" and "Alfie".
I'm not old enough to remember them being made though!

What a weekend.I'm sore throat, headache, feeling .Got sent home from work on Sunday(something about being a menace to all and sundry),but too ill to enjoy the day off.
Hope Xmen1 and 2 was ,and you have come down off your Hugh Jarman high
Good evening
Emee, out from under the rock Posted May 5, 2003
Forty isn't looking all that old these days.
Sorry you're . Have a and a and maybe some with lemon.
Brothers and I 'geeked out'. We watched Mystery Science Theatre 3000, X1, X2 AND The Two Towers. And, yes, I'm coming down off that Hugh Jackman high. Seriously though. The movie was really good. And I can't wait for the next one.
Good evening

It's nearly 11pm and I'm helping a friend edit a group writing project for a business class. It's 75 pages and I'm too nice. There. Now I feel meaner.

It's also a lot of Famke, Rebecca & Halle fans.
I'm 4 hours from KC. There were two storms that were near where I live. One missed and went north, the other missed & went south.

Glad to hear you didn't get the wind.
Are you at work today?,it's a bank holiday over here.Having said that i was at work today.Feeling loads better though, must have been a 48 hr thing..
After doing films, and i will watch out for some of your recommendations,i think our next topic should be fav. books.I warn you though, it's my specialist subject.
how rude , would you like or perhaps?
Good evening
Emee, out from under the rock Posted May 5, 2003
Yep. We have zero holidays from Feb. 17 until May 26. It's a long dry spell. Thank goodness we have vacations days.
Glad you're feeling better. I've got a persistant headache today. Think it might be my contact prescription.
Ah books. Love them. Have so many at home that I don't know where to put them anymore.
Tea would be good. Don't think the would mix with the ibuprofen I took for the headache.
Good evening
airscotia-back by popular demand Posted May 5, 2003
it is then*passes it over*
Contact prescription? so many of your phrases i don't understand if it sounds rude to keep asking.I guess an allergy medicine.
Which brings us neatly to our shared language.I've got books all over too(now that sounds like an allergy),loads of reference, biogs,Archaelogical textbooks and of course the good 'ol novel.
I'll crash on in with my favourite author; George Orwell-a genius.
Good evening
Emee, out from under the rock Posted May 5, 2003
I have glasses & contacts. I'm wearing the contacts today and look like this: The eye sent me a card the other day so I know it's time to go back.
1984 and Brave New World are two of my favorites. They're prophetic in a way and so accurately describe things like the disintigration of language and the re-writing of history that I almost find them scary.
Good evening
airscotia-back by popular demand Posted May 5, 2003
You are so right,if you look at all the "buzzwords" and media-speak around today, coupled with the attempts of certain parties to re-write history,1984 was worryingly prophetic.
I've never read Huxley's BNW,but i've got the general idea.
I read every Orwell book when i was in my teens, through choice not school, and return to them every now and then to sort of clense my mind.My favourite is "keep the aspidistra flying",very post war britain.
