Smudger,
Ah, I used to share a flat with a brother and sister from Forres - the Fletts (their family name). Nice area.
Can't say I've bumped into that many Scots on H2G2, surprisingly for a UK site most of the folks seem to be from the States.
Sorry to hear about your back - back injuries are the worst!

Most folks are from the states?
I find that most of the people I've met on here seem to be from the UK.
Of course, it makes a difference what time of day you're doing your posting who exactly you'll run into. If I only posted at night (eastern US time), I might think there was no one but americans and aussies on here.

Yes most on the site are from the UK. I talk to the other side of the pond more than many US folks because I am up late. My body clock runs late.

Hi JT, Lady S, & Abbi, That must be another one for your "Small World" then Abbi! Imagine JT living in my home town . As regards to where all the people come from in the globe, I just like talking to anyone who will listen No Really though, being online like this has opened a whole new world for me, now that I cant travel it like I used to BTW Abbi, did you have a sneek preview of my latest story??

Abbi. Are they all relatives that you're greeting? do they all stay with you? this sound like a lot of work to me. Hope that they are easy on you and that you have time to rest and recover. Lots of love.

Hi Lady!
Mad Meg
This it is too much, too close together. They are inlaws of mine and a set of friends for each of us (both looking to move here) They do not all stay here, they are here early or late or both every day. One or two people have been here staying at all times.
*After a vacation to see my oldest relatives. I was in need of a week or two break --I got 3 days. I am dead meat 21 days later.
I beg them not to do this ,coming all at once. It happens every year. One changes, then like dominoes they all fall into line in the same month in the end. It's something I'd really Really LIKE TO STOP!I want to see all ,I am glad they travel here, that is not it. NOT ALL AT ONCE PLEASE!*exasperated*

so sorry to hear you are being squashed by relatives. Do they not hear your pleas? do they not see how difficult it is for you? Could your husband help you sort them out? Being kind to everyone leaves little energy for being kind to you.

Yes but somehow....My husband is the one that needs to learn that the same people that need to be told NO ,usually need it 3,4,10 times to get it , that you have to stand firm. Short of just not answering the door we have tried everything.
Everyone I know that had to learn to say NO first had to get over the idea they will be listen to the first time! They come in knowingly saying we hear you are worn out but ,we know this is hard but , we planned to come at another time but, you'll end up in a motel to get away! Lol..... I no longer attempt to do anything but have clean linens. No meals, they cook here or go out. My husband thought tries to make up for what I no longer do and all that he has always done for them. Way too much! I dissapear when I have to into my bedroom.I am not one to ever go in there except for night sleeping. I have this emotional thing about not spending thime in there during the day because it means you are really sick or bad(childhood groundings)It is a depressing to meNormally I go to the spare bedroom if I feel the need for a long sleep during the day.

Well I am free.
Now the challenge of dissapointment(self) comes in.
I am getting better accepting some limits.
I still do not like it.

Weird -
Smudger, Krispy and Katy Corsair are the only folk I've met on here from the UK I think. I suppose it also depends on the threads and what you're attracted to thread-wise?

Thats true JT, I noticed that once you start posting, you seem to end up just being involved with the small section that respond? Ive met a few more people that have visited my page since reading my stuff in the post, but they seem to drift away? Mind you Im not complaining, its better to have a few close friends, than a crowd who you never really get to know all that well

I know exactly what you mean Smudge. I've had a lot of friends over the years, but now that I'm a little older, I've found that it's the ones who were always there, were always ready to talk and listen, that remain (sounds obvious I know). That's not to say I don't miss the ones who've drifted away and I've drifted from though there are a few I glad to be well rid of.
Let's raise a glass to our friends!
Cheers!!!
