Hi Hypatia,
Well, I am so sorry that I did not hear you speaking. But tonight I shall not sleep a wink and hope to catch you giving your ideas on Rod Sharp's programme which I really enjoy. I love his voice and he has such wonderful guests who know so much.
So you obviously belong to a very select little band.!!
Congratulations, and I shall enjoy hearing what you have to say about the three critical states which you will be commenting on!.
Go well and enjoy talking to us across the ocean!.

No need to be or Leo,
Hypatia is talking again to our wonderful interviewer Rod Sharp, (he has the most magical voice) tonight. It starts at 1 a.m. our time - just after midnight. I belive that New York time is six hours behind us, so it should be easy to work out for you. Of course,- sorry I forgot momentarily, you are in New York.
What are you studying for?

Is there a listen again link? How Hyp - I told J about your radio debut and he was very impressed We've heard a lot about Missouri on the radio for the last couple of days

You can listen again. At least I think it works. Just go to the Up All Night page:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/fivelive/programmes/upallnight.shtml?focuswin
You'll find a box underneath a banner that says More Coffee that says Listen again and has the days of the week listed. I'm not sure when they put them up though. Sunday and Monday is listed, but when I clicked on Tuesday it still says Oct. 31.
I assume that the program I did would be "Tuesday" since it started at 1:00 am in the UK.
Fortunately I was on in the first half hour - after the news - so you wouldn't have to listen to all 4 hours of the program to find me. Tonight might be a different story. The polls will just be closing here when the proggram begins tonight.

You sounded great Hyp Very level headed, and not nearly hill-billy enough! Your voice sounded higher than I remembered it, were you nervous?

Hypatia Posted Nov 7, 2006
Kelli, when I was at your house I had a cold. That probably lowered my voice. I hate my voice. I always sound like a little teeny bopper.
I was very nervous. I've done local TV and radio dozens of times, but a BBC program isn't something I ever expected to be involved with. I kept hoping he would ask me something I actually knew the answer to.
Lady C listened to it live and told me to stop worrying, that I did fine. But she is prejudiced.

Will definitely look forward to tonight's conversation, it isn't just Lady C being biased - do you have suitably barbed remarks lined up depending on the outcome?

Hypatia Posted Nov 7, 2006
I'll just have to wait and see what specifically they ask me. I did have a hillbilly comment up my sleeve last night, but didn't have an opening to use it.
I'm going to make notes all day as I think of things and as people come into the library and make comments. But whether or niot I'll be able to use any of it remains to be seen.

Morning all,
I listened and she was brilliant!! She didn't sound nervous at all so if she was, she hid it very well.
If I lived in Missouri, I would vote for McCaskill myself.
We plan to listen again tonight. My sister, the celeb!

I as well...I am prohibited from installing the proper audio plugin on my w**k computer.
Looking forward to it...there will be a sequel then?
It's only proper for our President to shine in the public ear...mixed metaphor and all

Just got back from the polls. Actually we voted about an hour ago and then celebrated by going to the next town over for a hamburger for lunch. I voted against all the incumbents except two--the governor and the secretary of state. I think we need to clean house, but I like our Governor. I will be watching the returns this evening, but want to tune in BBC to see what else Hyp has to say.

Well, I downloaded the player and listened, you sounded real good, Hyp. Looking forward to tonight's episode.
I'll vote this evening, in six or seven hours.
Here's what we're looking at:

The Democratic candidates, in general, are experienced people.

But they didn't introduce you as "President of h2g2"! It's a shocking lack of protocol on the part of the BBC, but you sounded great Hypatia.
