Hi Jimsmiley - smiley

We had some unexpected rain and thunder but no lightening. It was forecasted for tomorrow. According to the weather forecast it was supposed to only effect the West of London. Hornchurch which is 8 miles away got the worst of it.

I have got my hair cut today and now I am able to look after my hair better now.

Ben Hur has (wonderful chariot racing) inspired over film makers. Spartacus was another one. I do not think that they will do a remake of Ben Hur or Spartacus.

I saw the Kingdom of Heaven (Crusaders) and Troy but I do not find it as good as Ben Hur or Spartacus.

Hi Jimsmiley - smiley

Once a week, I go out and have a late breakfast at one of our local cafes. You can get a really big meal of fried egg, chips, bacon, sausage, beans, toast/bread and a large cup of coffee or tea for £4.10. I have a frothy cup of coffee with my meal. I have had it with whipped cream on top.

I have been watching Stargate and there is one favourite episode when Jack O'Neill and Tilk relive the same day for a month! The whole day is in time loop which they cannot break. So Jack and Tilk decide to do all the things that should not do, knowing that there will not be any comeback. They do end up finding how to break the time loop by going through the Stargate and going to the planet they went to at the start of the day and getting a time loop machine to stop working.

I have been trying to find out Jello is as in this episode Jack O'Neil says he usually has Jello for breakfast but decides to have fruit loops cereal instead.

We have had more rain but there has not been any thunder or lightening.

Hi Jimsmiley - smiley

It;s been getting hot and humid here too. Usually I find my flat very cold and I have to wear a cardigan but not this time.

I had a stand up fan but it was very noisy and it did not last long.

I have got some very small strawberries (English) but there was one thing I cannot get any English tomatoes. The nearest place that they come from is Holland it is very hard to get English fruit and vegetables. I have heard that local grown fruit and vegetables have more goodness in but it is very hard to get. Some shops do not even show you what country it comes from. Farm markets are the best place to get local fruit and vegetables but they are very few and I do not know of any locally. Unless you live near the farm markets the only way of getting to them is by car.

Hi Jimsmiley - smiley

My aunt shops at Waitrose. I have just read that they sell more British fruit and vegetables. Second to them are Somerfields.

I am lucky that my place is not too hot at night time. I remember times when I would get up at night and run cold water over my wrists and splash cold water over my face and neck but it does not happen anymore.

I am keeping up the news about the NASA space shuttle Discovery whcih has successfully docked with the International Space Station. 48-year-old German Thomas Reiter to the ISS, is going to stay six months as the first member of the European Space Agency to do so.
He is going to carry out 30 experiments in biology, human physiology, physics and technology.

The flight commander Steve Lindsey will be at the helm, the shuttle Discovery will be gently linked up with the station.

Crew members Piers Sellers and Michael Fossum will then perform spacewalks that include repairs to a broken station transport system.

The repairs are needed to complete construction of the half-finished space outpost.

Mr Reiter is to prepare for a full-scale European science laboratory, which will then be deployed to the station in 2007.
He will communicate with a ground control station in the southern German town of Oberpfaffenhofen, which will be set to be the main centre for gathering information from the future lab.

hi kat
-
what makes me laugh about the space explorations is that we wont be around in 40 or 50 years, to see how it would or could benefit us.
-
to me its been a total waste of money that could have been used to sort the existing world we have.
-
from the beginning of space travel, the deaths connected to it have well overweighed the research they have found,
-
space is a frontier that should have stayed hidden, and if hitler haddnt forced his so called rocket men to build the v2 and v1, and if the countries had made the ones that helped to kill hundreds with them, stand trial for war cimes, instaed of taking them to paramunder, housing them and there families we wouldnt have a world we have now.
-
maybe history would have gone a bit slower, technoligy we have now would be another 50 or 100 years away, but the wars and the countries now getting the bomb wouldnt have even heard of it.
am i right smiley - discojimxxxxx

If the Archduke of Austria had not been assinated there would have been the First World War nor would there would be a Second World War. Also if World War 1 did not happen - there would not be any of the Middle East troubles that we have now. If the Second World War had not happen there would not have been any atomic/nuclear weapons.

This all started with assination of an Archduke that has caused so much bloodshed.

hi kat
-
just think in about 100 maybe 1000 years it might be possible to turn back time and history.
-
and relive the last 2000 or so years at that point, people might say, its only dreaming, but we now know that what we thought was impossible is now the future to use.
-
it would be like having a 2000 year (groundhog day)
-
its a pity it wont happen because there are other hitlers still out there,so amagedan(which is a place that a ruin somewhere)could happen at any time.
-
saddams gone but ben lardens not,and he is the most dangerous man alive today.and he said to be a multi millionaire.
-
today there was a two min sileince for the bombing, how many more time in the future will there be a rememberance for something, we haven yet seen.
-
i hope when the end of the world, in what form comes im not around, if i died in a year or more,60, ide be happy to say ive had a good and bad life.smiley - discojimxxxxx

Hi Jimsmiley - smiley

The idea of travelling forward or backwards in time has always fascinated science fiction writers. The 'grandparent paradox' is used as an argument against time travel is impossible. If you went back in time and prevented your grandfather from meeting your grandmother so that would mean your mother would never be never born? Then that would mean you would never have been born.

Most scientists to believe that time travel could never happen. But some scientist interpret the strangeness of the quantum world now suggest that time travel could be possible in theory at the moment.

Einstein's theory of relativity which got space and time together in a single, four-dimensional arrangement that was called spacetime. We can travel forwards, backwards and sideways in space, so nothing should stop us from travelling forwards and backwards in time.

When a star reaches the end of its life it will collapse inwards under and become black hole. Black holes have such a large gravitational pull that nothing can escape from them, not even light. They cannot seen them but there is evidence that they exist.

At the centre of a black hole is an a dense point, called a singularity, within means the laws of physics no longer apply. This dense point at the centre of the black hole makes a tunnel that completely goes through and for a short time opens out on the other side.

No one knows what is on the other side of the black hole. It could be somewhere in the future or in the past, or it could even be in another Universe. According to the stories in Dr Who. The Time Lords who the first to be able to harness the power of a black hole to begin their experiments in time travel. If you could travel through a wormhole, you would have discovered how travel in time. It is impossible with today's technology. But it could happen in the future.

There an infinite number of futures, in an infinite number of universes.

Photons and electrons sometimes behave as waves and sometimes as particles, but never both at the same time. So far, the argument for interference between one universe and another applies only to events occurring at the quantum level.

If we travel back in time and change history, we could go into a new future in a parallel universe, but it will have no effect on the present time that we are living in.

-
i saw a discovery programme this afternoon, it was how armageden is likely to happen
-
we think that it will be a war to end the world, like the part in time machine.but they where saying the most likely end of the world will be an asteroid hitting earth, like it happened over 20,000 years ago, the devastation is still there today, over 30 miles of land and trees are distroyed for our liftime.
-
it was said to be over 100 times more powerfull than the bomb dropped on japan.smiley - discojimxxxxx

Hi Jimsmiley - smiley

I saw the same tv programme this afternoon about on Discovery, a short drama about a crew that goes to Pluto and then lands on a comet which shatters on their way back home.

The 'original' film of the Time Machine, I prefer to the remake.

I saw a documentary telling that there is another galaxy called Adromena which is going to colide with our galaxy and then it will cause both the Milky way and the Adromena galaxies wormholes (which are at the centre of the galaxies which fully come alive and emerge and turn into a superblack hole which will suck into everything in its path. They also say that blackholes were what caused the birth of the universe. When the blackholes stopped feeding, stars started to form.

I have seen documentaries on how they are going to stop giant asteroids from falling on earth. One of the methods they are thinking of using it to put rockets on the asteroid to push it away. I have never knew that asteroids were that very powerful.

hi kat
-
you have to read between the lines, its not to push but blast, the rockets in space that nasa say isnt there, remeber a film about the astoriod heading for earth, and both russia and asu had there rockets trained on each other, hercules and ivan the great, well as we said before what they say isnt there is ,but we cant see it.
-
if an astro the size to disttroy earth was heading for us, no amount of rockets would stop it.
-
its like the early warning snowballs, that where for a 4 min warning of a newclear attack,
the only thing you could do in 4 mins(beg my pardon in advance)
is bend over, put your head between your legs and kiss your ass good bye.because the time you got upright you would be a pile of dust or at the best so badly scarred from the heat.
-
if you imagine how many things are out in space that nasa as left to just go round and round the earth for ever,it anything collided with say a satalite, the devastation it it returned to earth and got past the atmosphere would be catastrophic to say the least.
-
one mistake could be construde as an attack from another country, and the missiles that the countries say they dont have would soon appear.imagine if a russain peice of spaceship/station landed in say india, you could bet the they would think it was pakistan, and they retaliate with missles, and so on, till we are in the war we hoped may never come,ww3, to end all lifesmiley - discojimxxxx

Hi Jimsmiley - smiley

Thanks for the Doctor Who Link, which I have been to and read. A lot of useful information about the new Doctor Who assistant.

In one of the episodes, The Doctor says that the TARDIS was not built but grown.

Tavelling to another dimension/universe in theory is possible. So if there is an earth disaster then if you could create your own temporary wormhole and then be able to escape through it.

hi kat
-
there was a series called, goodnight sweetheart, a light hearted thing
-
but the point was that nicholas lyndhurst, was able to walk down a street back into the 1940,s
-
what made me think of it was that is it possible that at certain times a void/hole is opening somewhere unknown to anyone,a doorway to another world, or dimention.the most logical place would be in the bermuda triangle,
-
did you know that a least once a wwwk the odds are that a tiny peice of what would have been an ansteroid hits the earth somewhere, and that there as been some unexplained people being killed by what as once been seen as foul play, till in 1800,s a mortitian, found what he thought was a small pebble in a wound,
-
he kept it for some reason and in years to come, a family memeber took it to a scentist,i was it on the strange but true stories.

so if you here a ping, think phew it missed me lolsmiley - discojimxxxxx

Hi JImsmiley - smiley

I used to watch Good night Sweetheart. It was funny seeing him with two wives and trying to pass a secret agent to his wife in the second world war and I think he had a child with her.

Other tv programmes/ episodes/parallel dimensions where people would go back in time in Star Trek - one particular where the crew of Deep Space Nine went back on the Enterprise in the days of James T Kirk with all those tribbles. On Star Trek The Next Generation they even were visited by the Time Traveller smiley - tardis. In Stargate SG1 you could see the two Samantha Carters talking to each other as well as the rest of the crew of SG1 taliking to their parallel selves. Apart from Back to the future with the travelling car, there was Sliders but after a while trying to rid the earth of an alien race in different dimension. I prefered when they went in different worlds and each episode was a unique one. I do not know if they managed to get back earth and find Mallarey.

There have been so many theories about the berumda triangle, one said it could have been the place of Alantis. But the idea of being another world/dimension seems to be a good one.

Thanks for the link and for the information about how asteroid attacks were first detected through pebbles being found in the casulaties of these attacks.

About a year ago, I found you could be paid several thousand pounds if you found a small asteroid (the size of a golf ball or a little bigger because of the rare minerals in them.

the problem with star trek is that it is to far fetched.a good series, but to far off beam.
-
the nearest i can remember that you could link to asteriod theory,is space 1999 series.
-
if i remember right they where one the moon, when an ateroid hit and sent them off into space.a pity it went to sci fi at that point, with the woman that could shape change.smiley - discojimxxxxxx

Hi Jimsmiley - smiley

I have been looking for ways of making more use of the space in my wardrobe but I have not got very far in my search.

Ideas I have found are hanging canvas shelf unit and double set of hooks very similar to coat hooks for the door.

I do not know if it was Space 1999 or UFO but the women had coloured hair and the men looked like they were wearing wigs.

I think in Space 1999 they kept on travelling but I do not know what happened to them at the end.
