The bonny baby, eyes of blue
who never got to speak with you
still keeps your picture on the wall
of memories out in the hall.
She asks the questions every day
and wonders why you couldn't stay
to see her grow-up, hold her hand.
I try to make her understand.
Life's just like that, she's got to learn
the fickle hand of fate will turn
and point to us - each single one.
We'll find our time on earth soon done.

Do you mind me asking who that is for?
It sounds like it was someone very close, very special.
Please tell me to mind my own business if it is private, I shall understand.

It's about my mother and my daughter - My mum died of cancer barely 8 months after the child was born. She has photos of her Nan, but they are pretty rough looking - she is all wizzened and dying but smiling at the baby in her arms.

What things bring us to the edge of our sanity, my mum never got too see my son.
anyhoo on a much more happier note:
Ode To Dad (or a day in the life of a tour de france fanatic)
My dad he is a funny man
He's not like most a football fan
What he likes is cycle racing
That's the sport that gets his rating
He pedals along with the stars on the telly
Whilst sat on the sofa he gives it some welly
He keeps up with Lance Armstrong mile for mile
As he travels across our room with panache and style
Now Miguel Indurian had trememdous power
As he reached up to speeds of 50 miles per hour
But he couldn't beat dad with the sofa unstable
As he ploughs right on through our coffee table
So if you come to our house and you think it's weird
That we have the world's only sofa that's geared
Just look at my dad in his cycle pants
And you'll understand he's ready for the Tour de France

Mizzpinky *sighs* here we go again Posted May 5, 2007
I think it may have already been in, my memory is terrible sorry
Here's another:
No Fear
My man, he is in love with bikes
To speed about the country is what he likes
While I ride pillion holding on like grim death
Wondering why I have no finger nails left.
He accelerates past all the others
While I wish my eyes, I could cover
We reach 90 and I pray to God
He hears me and pushes 130, THE SOD!!!!
And when I suffer with G-force
I start dreaming of divorce
But there's no slowing as we take the corners
With soiled Knickers I think of funerals and mourners
So as I sit and grit my teeth
While we speed past meadow, field and heath
I start to think 'this ain't so bad'
Thats done it! I've gone completely mad!!!!

I'm sorry but you are completely nuts.
Bikes scare me witless ..... I'll repeat that shall I .... WITLESS.
Another great poem.

They scare me witless too, whenever we went out on the bike I had to have the intercom playing music LOUDLY!

Well that sort of defeats the purpose doesn't it.
At a risk of getting lynched I'd just ban them - apart from on the race track.
*waits for hoards of to arrive*
