Hi my dear Shea and Pheloxies and s
How nice to have lovely holiday wishes and then to be welcomed back. Thank you both so much.
I had a really splendiferous holiday. We stayed at a really super hotel and the staff were all young Australians who had their degrees and were down in Newquay for the surfing. They were all so kind to me it was truly heart-warming.
We also went to a great many of the wonderful scenic spots in Cornwall which included the Eden project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and for the first time I drove to Boscastle and Tintagel - of King Arthur fame. Boscastle was absolutely like a wonderland. The stone houses were quite breathtakingly beautiful and the gardens and hanging basketws and flowers made it something quite idyllic. I also had to drive through a beautiful wood to get to it.
I did nearly a thousand miles of driving and managed it without too much trouble. The only problem was that we came back late on Friday night and I did not enjoy driving came over the M25 in the dark.!!
Bless you both - take care and much to you both. AR1

Hi sweet Shea
Nice to be back. I have just spent a super day in Canterbury with my brother and his wife. He is a psychiatrist and lives in Canada. I had taken my son and my brother over to lunch with my sister and her darling husband who live in Canterbury. So there were four of the five siblings altogether. We phoned my brother in New York and my sister told his receptionist that there were two sisters and two brothers waiting to speak to him.!! I think our collective ages amounted to nearly three hundred years.!!Isn't it dreadful. We were reminiscing and it is quite amazing how different one's memories are. My eldest son wants to make contact with you so I shall be sending him your address.
With fond AR1
A big Hi to TJ please!.

That sounds wonderful! It's so nice to get the family together ... even if it's "virtually".
I'm looking forward to hearing from your son. It's a small world ... in a big sorta way, isn't it?
I'll be sure to tell TJ you said Hi!

'Tis very easy dear Bassman
If ever I write my autobiography I am going to call it "Also Ran".
You see, all my life I have aimed for the sky and fallen on the roof!!.
I have never actually managed to be No. 1 at anything.
And the funny thing is that I do not mind!!. I keep trying, and hoping, hoping, and hoping.
Nice to hear from you. I see you have found a fellow bass player. Well done. You should be able to form a virtual band.
My first boyfriend - at the age of sixteen - played the drums in the Varsity band and he taught me - amongst other things!! - so much about jazz at that time. This was in the mid forties and early fifties. What wonderful musicians there were around then.
Hope you are keeping well.
Best wishes AR1

AR1,
As long as you still have aspirations that is a good thing.
My world seems to crumbling around me at the moment and I feel helpless to stop it.

Hi honey
No it is definitely a case of not being able to sleep. And the normal things I have which keep me occupied during the night i.e. my radio does not appear to be working. And neither is my tilt bed which fantastically helps my circulation!! I rather suspect that the lass who came in to iron for me yesterday must have blown a fuse anad if I try and mend it I shall probably fall out of my w/c and be jolly uncomfortable until someone comes in to get me back into it.
It actually is now 4.40 a.m. and I am hoping that soon sleep will come and visit me and I shall go back to my untiltable bed. Amazing how quickly one gets used to things.
Anyway, thanks for coming in and cheering me up. Fond s AR1
Appalling about that dreadful massacre in Bali. One wonders how minds can even begin to think like that. Like the dreadful Twin Towers. If I felt it would help I would spend the rest of my days on my knees.!!
Had a lovely day with another Malawian priest yesterday. He is going back next week having spent two months over here as a supply priest. It is the third year that he has come and he has matured so much since he first came here. He is running a junior seminary in Malawi and when one sees the problems they have to cope with it really makes one realise how incredibly blessed (fortunate) we are. Again fond AR1

The news from Bali is so distressing. All those young people.
I'm sorry you can't sleep. I know the feeling, and it's terribly frustrating.
I know what you mean about speaking to others to realize how blessed we truly are. It's always best to listen to other people's stories. It keeps your sense of perspective firmly in place.
I'm still at work. There was just another sniper shooting in Virginia, so we're waiting to see what emerges from that. I hope I can leave soon, though.
*sigh* It's a crazy world we live in.

I used to play a song called "World Gone Crazy" in a band when I lived in Scotland, I'd post some of the lyrics, but I can't quite remember them and would hat to get them wrong.
It was an anti - war song, talking about World War III and people being sick of all the killing going on in the world.

Very dear Shea
Sorry I have been remiss about replying. It has been a difficult week with the local socail Services trying to make changes to the carers that my son has. Removing both of them and putting two strangers in. The one is a quite outstanding person who has really given him back his selfconfidence and encouraged him to write his poetry again, she also goes bird watching with him and they read Shakespeare together. Most people think that because one has a mental illness one is incapable of thought. but that is simply not true and she is one of the wonderful people who has given him so much. Hopefully they are going to let her remain, but one wonders who on earth makes these crazy decisions.
And those awful killings in the States. It would seem as if the perpetrators have got scared and have moved off. I just wonder how people can do such things. I hope that Bassman sends us the words to that song. Have a good weekend, and my kind regards to your special man TJ. A big to yourself. AR1

Hi Bassman,
It is so good to hear from you. I have always said that had I been a man I would have been tarred and feathered in white feathers as I really am a pacifist. When my children were small I would never allow them to have soldiers, toy guns etc. etc. and I always tried to encourage them to think and care for others. I do think that much of compassion and love come from the home atmosphere. Mind you I am not saying that it makes their life easier when they are adults.
I hope that you can find the words to that song. I am just amazed that people can be so cruel as to believe that by maiming and injuring others one can bring peace.
Go well dear friend AR1
