I think the mirror is designed to confuse the panda, elephant, orangutans, chimpanzees and gorilla so that Homer can sneak out. Spook really didn't want him back that badly after all.
There once was a really annoying
Parrot Homer whose scent was particularly cloying.
From brothels in Bankok
to short flights through air locks
his fragrance had everyone going.
His owner Spook could see
a long journey was much in need
to rid Homer of the stench
that caused teeth to clench
so once again Homer was set free.

Cats are very difficult to clone - particularly ones with umlats.
If it is any consolation, the clones are always evil and seem to need to be killed off periodically.
Does anyone know if Homer is truly away?
