Convos I’d be Sad to Lose...
Pinniped Started conversation Jan 23, 2011
Since the new H2G2 may be destined to limit our backward Convo access to a week last Thursday, I’ve decide to keep a collection of links to well-loved but ancient Convos in my Journal.
Any Lurkers (as if) might be surprised to see that I seem to be mainly concerned with preserving the glory of my own inimitable contributions. Hell, yeah! The rest of you can look after your own literary legacies. My mission is to preserve the sheer piquant majesty of the Seal for the wonderment and rapture of future generations. And yeah, OK, there are a few other people who I'll grudgingly admit have produced some pretty sharp repartee too...

The seal and trout together again. I thought there was a fishy smell coming from someplace.
Ah, those were the days. I miss them.

It was all so long ago.
Thank you for those signposts down memory lane, Pin.
Miss ya Trouty.

But it could be again, Ben.
There are plenty of people out there who can raise this community above mere chat or Wiki-clone. We are what we are by imaginative extension of each others ideas, always changing, feeding on novelty.
We're not some dead library of tedious fact.
We're not some time-frozen, elitist palace of etiquette.
We're not just not pages and pages of inane Smileys.
This is the ultimate riffing community.
The key now is to build the place for tomorrow's diversions. Go girl.

Do I still have a valid email address for you, Seal boy? Mine is on my home space, or an approximate version thereof.
In the meantime, unfortunately, I have a day job to do, and a Master's Dissertation to write.

If you still have the one incorporating the insane piscine reference (originally acquired to annoy our mutual salmonid nemesis), then you most certainly do. It would be great to hear from you.
I will however quote the standard clause at this juncture: Please note that the aforementioned account is the only one suitable for requests for/recollections of wild nights of passion. Several other obviously-guessable ones will work, but the Weddell patrols them all and she has already murdered fourteen former lovers
Slightly nearer reality, and to emphasise the Harmony of All Things, I have a Masters Dissertation to read today. Now ain't that congruent?

Get that funky harmony.
No, that email address was several hard-drives ago. Oh well. Never mind.

... there was some resistance to the normal dynamics of fluids as the cistern flushed: some wannabe floaters tried vainly (it was heard) to float amid the turbulent fury while a shiny adherent attempted desperately to bond with the porcelain, leaving as he did evidence of invertial scrape not forensically dissimilar to the scuff marks to those on the wooden club of a successful Newfoundlander ...

"W... T.. F...?", belched AGCB, scooping a fish from between her (unbotoxed) rich red lips.
The Trout ejaculated: "I suppose that was as close as I'm going to get".
The seal sneered, trying to dismiss the advent as merely unfortune, unable to feel the liberty. The trout chuckled: he could feel it. Or something. He looked to see where the AGCB had her hands.
"This is it", squawked the Waz-mergeier, "we've escaped. Finally, they've let us go".
Boots wagged her tail, and then cureld around to gnaw on it. Clueless...

There is a breeze getting up, direction not yet apparent.
And I am £7.95 with P&P lighter in pocket.

It'll be a bit strange - no end-papers, no title page, no page numbers even. But hey - the posts are numbered, it was an interesting exercise, and it took a lot of time I really don't have spare right now.

Trout Montague peeled open his purse and extracted the troubling sum of fifteen plastic dollars and nine pieces of shrapnel and waited patiently for the labyrinthine processes of the global mail services to fulfil their function.

Oh! Oh! Oh! It's arrived!
I hadn't really thought about it, but they must have a production facility this side of the pond as well as 'tother side. Obvious, really.

Mine too. I love it - it's even got the little yikes buttons, and dates and post numbers. Your posts have eyes , did you notice?
I'll print a copy of the last, last post and keep it with the book.

whatever made you think I wasn't lurking?
My... But it was a long long time ago. I do hope we are in easier spaces now than then.

Just got mine a minute ago. Really glad it's in alabaster. I'll see if I can give it a read-through this weekend.

Sometimes the best of this place is really subtle.
(I can't believe I said that, when there's a Trout in it)

"Oh! Oh! Oh! Mine's come too!" gasped the Trout supine and subtle, before resuming the wait for Postman Pat.
