What the.....

H2G2 is to be closed?
Why do I pay my Licence fee? Well it's not totally for the telly is it? It's for the websites too!smiley - doh
So lets save hootoo- we all pay for it (if we have a telly!).

I don't like the new look either. It's wrecked my a personal space a bit, which was a bit of an achievement for me, given I am useless on computer stuff. OK, I haven't been on late, but, I come in to see how it's going and to catch up with folks, and it's just....smiley - yuk

On a positive note. Deke wrote a very interesting, inforamtive and well researched Guide Entry on the skullduggery and political double dealing that went on regarding Ejector Seats for Vulcan rear crews in the 1960s. This may be regarded as a small footnote in history by some, but it's implications for the Service Personnel affected were huge. It also shows that 50 years later, the same sorts of things are still happening. Not bad for a site built by the users, as it were!smiley - ok

Save Hootoo. We know it makes sense- so should you!

Struth!

I haven't been here for over 2 years...... That's how long I haven't had access to a computer!

I'm amazed that my space still exists.smiley - wow I will have to edit it a bit. Some things have changed for me, and some things haven't. I'm upright and breathing, so that's a start!. I do have bit of a cold though smiley - ill. Hi ho, that's the way it goes!

Congratulations to Fords and Dr V! Married with a wee girl, how absolutely brilliant smiley - cupidsmiley - hug I well pleased for them. It's an age since I saw them at a Scottish meet, but I remember they were great fun.

Still lots of good things happening. Hooray! smiley - magic

John Peel......

This is a bad day. John Peel has died. A massive heart attack, nothing could be done to save him. His wife was with him, so he didn't die alone. It's just so damn sad.

He has been a big influence on my life via his radio shows and music work, and, through his Home Truths programme on Radio 4. He is just such a good, decent Man. I have grown up with him, and travelled through life with his dry humour and musical finds. If he liked it, he played it- what better criterion? Without him I would not have heard Pulp, The Undertones, The Stranglers, Loudon Wainright III....... the list goes on, too many to list. I nearly fell out of bed laughing one night when he played Half Man Half Biscuit's "Vatican Broadside". His taste may not always been mine, but it was always interesting- you could hear some Beefheart followed by the latest Grunge, then the Pig's Big 78, and then something chilled. His work with new bands is legendary. This is a loss to the music industry, but equally important is his loss to us, the listener- on the wider scale.

I have had some bad times this year, and listening to his show, and hearing his comments and stories between the music has taken my mind off things and made those long nights bearable.

My heart goes out to his family. Their loss is far greater than ours. I can only hope that they have some comfort from the fact that he was not alone, and that a lot of people are thinking of them and grieving with them.

He was a down to earth Man, and I think he would probably not like to hear me say this, but we have lost a decent, lovely Man with a genuine love of music, who happened to be a Legend, and also was a friend.

I will miss you John. Rest peacefully. We won't forget you.smiley - rose

Hee hee hee!

At 1 30 this morning I was sent a text by my mate. "2night, rite now, looking for In Tua Nua CD. Wish mine were in alfabetical order like yours. I bow to your superior organisation"

smiley - evilgrinVindication at last!!!! smiley - evilgrinsmiley - devil

All those times she has slagged me for having my CDs in alphabetical order, and all those times, after her visits, I have found CDs swapped in their cases. Yesssssssss finally she sees why I do it.... s*d all to do with organisation.... it's so I can find 'em!smiley - laugh

Oh the entertainmentsmiley - evilgrinsmiley - evilgrinsmiley - rofl

I should point out at this juncture that I am not a person who lives in a neat and tidy house, with everything placed to perfection. That's the sign of a sick mind.... or something like thatsmiley - winkeye

Wonder if she found that CDsmiley - evilgrin
