... for the next couple of hours in the computer room / back bedroom in my house, with the rest of the lights at the front of the house all switched off.
Yes that's right folks. I forgot to buy a box of sweets when I went to Sainsbury's this morning. So now I'm trying to give the impression to the kids out trick or treating that I'm not home.
How sad is that

I'm rather disappointed that the severe thunderstorms forecast for this evening now won't arrive until after midnight No sights of the poor little dears trudging around in soaking wet costumes or being struck by lightning
Halloween? Bah, pumpkin

No Bah pumpkins!!!
Terrible.
Very funny on GreyDesk, though!!! Terribly funny!!!
.... we were awful this year.... didn't do ANY decorating until today... and I was at work while the decorating happened.... so it was half-hearted and involved no candles or flickering lights.
I'm sure the kids can taste the apathy in our candy.

The rain didn't keep us in, isn't that what umbrellas are for?
We bought a big bag of candy thinking we would be home, then ended up going back to our old neighborhood for trick-or-treating, so now have a full, unopened bag of candies, as well as a full bag of mixed stuff my kid collected. I don't know why I didn't think to leave the candy on the porch (except now I'm glad we didn't since it rained). We should have plenty of candy left over for stuffing stockings in a couple of months...

The weather here was perfect for Halloween - wisps of cloud draping themselves dramatically across the face of a huge bright moon. I love the cool, still evenings we get at this time of year. As we left the pub (where else did you think I'd be?) and walked down the lane I heard barn owls screech and tawny owls hoot, just to complete the atmosphere!

If if snowed there properly just once they'd probably enjoy it.
Twice, though, and they'd be cursing us for sending them our nasty weather

Some snow would be nice every now and again.
I mean, once in eight years is not really acceptable is it

We have little ceramic buildings in the Holiday Shop at Wal*Mart... there's a Harry Potter set that has Hagrid's Hut. When I first saw it, I noticed the color of the moss on it, and practically shouted, "It's REALLY LIKE THAT in England in the winter!!!"

I bought a bag of lollies & got one free!
Filled up the tub and opened the door to random ghouls, freaks and nasties.
Got rid of all the salesmen then the Hallowe'en-ing kiddies came knocking
Andrew went out at 5.30, dressed in his Harry Potter outfit (except for the hat) then he put a head on with ghastly straggly hairand on each finger, a "dead" green finger with red fingernail.
He looked a sight.
But he came back with a bag full of goodies & £2.50 in change!!
My last callers were a group of 4 mid-teenage girls in fancy dress (one was wearing a leotard with wings) AND NO COAT I was shivering when I answered the door! I offered them the bowl of sweets and they chattered and giggled like teenage girls do...*sigh*
I miss my teenage girls
I wish my 21-y.o. son had been here, I'd have made him answer the door, it'd have cheered him up no end.
What's next? Bonfire night. Oh bliss. I'm not buying fireworks, never do. I've bought a ticket for Andrew & I to go to a charity bonfire party at a local club.

In the end there were only a couple of knocks on the door that needed ignoring. That is somewhat down on the last time that I was in on Halloween a couple of years back. On that occasion I was really worried that I was going to run out of sweets by mid-evening
As for bonfire night. There is no large public display in Brighton, as we leave that to Lewes a few miles down the road with their pyromaniac fetishes - http://www.lewesbonfirecouncil.org.uk/index.html And anyway, I'm a little uneasy with the anti-Catholic undertones of the whole thing, so tend to stay away from doing anything of 5th November.

I really wanted to go to see the burning tar barrels being run through Ottery St.Mary, only five or six miles from here. Unfortunately I'm working late on Bonfire Night.

" really wanted to go to see the burning tar barrels being run through Ottery St.Mary" - I was thinking of a few rockets - I'm behind the times aren't I ?
