So this morning, the nurse called. 'We have to postpone your doctor visits for another month.'

Me: 'What about our 'flu and Covid shots?'

Nurse: 'Oh, we can schedule those right away.'

So we're getting our shots next Tuesday. (And we voted by mail so we didn't have to go in.)

I appreciate the thought.

But I'm afraid right now I'm with a lot of people today who are saying, 'Don't tell me to cheer up, or whatever. Just let me grieve for awhile.' A lot of people have just realised how bad their neighbours are - and it's been a big shock for them.

A Twitter friend wrote, 'Just stop making imperative statements. I don't have to keep fighting, or wear a mask, or start a community garden, or give money to whatever organization. I am okay with just giving up.'

And she's right. It's okay for people to just feel bad for a moment. Fighting back comes later.
