for that rant.
I agree with every word of it. The History Channel was bad enough - but Discovery has become impossible, as you say.
I tried looking up 'apocalypse' on Netflix last night. And discovered that 'zombie apocalypse' was a movie category.
I mean, a joke's a joke, people, but I thought George Romero and his Pittsburgh friends had pretty much done it all. What a boring film...
We have to worry, Hyp. You and I know that there are far too many people getting their sense of reality from this dreck. Oy!

The history channel we have (not The History Channel) does have maybe 5-10 per cent of interesting history shows. For some reason it seems to be heavily weighted towards WWII - the North Africa campaign in particular. But the weird thing is that when they can't think of anything else to show, they just throw on either a period drama about servants in Edwardian houses in England, or the Antiques Roadshow.
Surely there's a market for stimulating history programming? I'd watch it, and I know lots of other people who would, too.

Could we be trusted? I've read your Edited Guide Entries - if you had a history channel it would be all about Jesus' underpants and centuries that never really happened!

"I suspect that's why people are always expecting it - so it won't happen"
This - and your recent thread about gun debate (or absence of same) - made me remember this:
Niels Bohr - a competent soccer goalie, Nobel prize laureate and one of Oppenheimer's playmates during the happy Manhattan Project days in Los Alamos, New Mexico - was once asked why he had a horseshoe hanging over the door of his humble little Danish farmhouse. "Surely you - one of the finest minds of our time - don't believe in superstition"
"Of course not", answered Bohr, "but I'm told it helps even if you don't believe in it"

That's like my mom, enemy of superstition.
Her father-in-law claimed to be able to 'rub away' warts. She claimed not to believe him, but let him try.
Guess whose warts went away?
