SPINY (aka Ship's Cook) Posted Jan 11, 2001
Hey gang, the guy I had lined up to do the article on curry shops can't do it now. Does anyone fancy getting together with me to do it? I don't know anything about Glasgow curry shops myself, but I'm willing to lend a technical hand, take pictures, shoot video, or even some of the legwork and phoning round if you have the ideas and some of the knowledge.
Yours exasperatedly, SPINY.
Thanks everyone!
Babel17 Posted Jan 11, 2001
Sorry to hear that, SPINY. How about asking Lyns for a loan of the 'Good Curry Guide' and we go through and try a couple?

*General Message 2*
Now that I have that out of the way, I can update the Project:Glasgow article, with all your input. It is at:
http://www.h2g2.com/A492266
Feel free to leave a message detailing your input to the project i.e. what you are doing, where, when, dates, times, interesting or funny things that happened during it etc. The more comprehensive the better.
That way there is as complete a written record of the whole project as possible. Ta muchly
Jools.
Thanks everyone!

Thanks Babel! To keep you all posted, Anne - the web designer on the project will be coming up next week on the 16th and staying over the weekend. She's also a photographer. Esteban, the cameraman will also be in Glasgow between the 18th and the 26th. So these are our dates for recording stuff! If everyone can let me know when they might be free around those times, I'd be very happy . Maybe we could have a mini-meet with her in Glasgow for some more photies! Could be a laugh!

Thanks everyone!
Lost in Scotland Posted Jan 12, 2001
Anytime after 4pm-4:30pm would be fine by me, weekdays, and pretty much anytime during weekends, Lyns.
I thought I'd do a bit on restaurants in Glasgow, seeing I kinda like food. I'll try to get some colleagues to do a bit of footwork, and get something together on it.
Thanks everyone!
Munchkin Posted Jan 12, 2001
Actually, I will be in Glasgow on the night of the 19th. However, its a busy, stressful day, and then I'm going to get very drunk, very quickly, I'm not really available.
Have thought of a few pub anecdotes, will try to write them up over the weekend for you. Have fun.
Thanks everyone!

Sorry Babel, meant to speak to you before now. They're making me WORK today - can you believe it? Well, I'd be delighted if you want to help me with the curry project. I'll have to research it though, since I know zip about Glasgow restaurants. There was a spat recently between the Edinburgh and Glasgow restaurant owners because Edinburgh got more entries in the Good Curry Guide this Year. Accepting it with dignity, a spokesman from Glasgow said, "yes but you get far bigger portions in Glasgow." Oh well, I'm sure that's a criterion for some people. Matbe not something we want to touch on though...
I'll give you a call over the weekend since I got your details from Lyns.
Thanks everyone!
Babel17 Posted Jan 12, 2001
No probs. SPINY. I'm backshift this weekend Sat. and Sun., so mobile no. until 4pm, then work no. after that until 11pm.
Thanks everyone!
SPINY (aka Ship's Cook) Posted Jan 12, 2001
Alright. Off to a works leaving booze-up tonight, but try and speak to you over the weekend.
I've got to the stage where I've put so much money in people's leaving boxes these past 20-odd years, I'm sure there'll be nobody left when it comes to MY leaving do. Sorry - self-pity is so unattractive....
Thanks everyone!
Demon Drawer Posted Jan 12, 2001

Without - beards and curry are just a menace. I should know - I've still got some chicken tikka in mine from 1986.
Thanks everyone!
Babel17 Posted Jan 13, 2001
DD, tell her to stop that. It's not fair the bride being at a grooms stag do. DDGDB, is one thing, but a lass in a beard...
*shakes head solemly*
Another mini-meet!
Lyns Posted Jan 13, 2001
Hi everyone. So another mini-meet is on the cards! I've spoken to everyone I could get hold of on the phone already, but just to let you know, I'll be in the Printworks from 5.00 this Wednesday with Anne, the web designer/photographer. The idea is to chat over the best way to get all our ideas onto the web! And maybe to have a wee drink! If anyone has a problem with the time - don't worry. We can come early and stay late if necessary!
Another mini-meet!
Babel17 Posted Jan 14, 2001
Virtual Best Man, DD? Cool!
This could be very weird.
Another meet-up, what a drag
*makes note about Wednesday* By the by, I got some photo's back today.
Will try and get them uploaded over the next day or two. Might even manage to get the other spool finished on Wed. then I can get the rest of them done too.
Another mini-meet!

*coughs violently and spectacularly for several minutes*
That's got it. Wednesday eh? I'll try and drag myself out of my sick bed then. Might have to have some alcohol too, for medicinal purposes you understand.
Another mini-meet!
Dr E Vibenstein (You know it is, it really is.) Posted Jan 14, 2001
Yes, you're absolutely *cough*... absolutely *cough*... absolutely *cough*... absolutely *cough*... right.
