Warning: Spleen Hanging Out

I need to vent, and I need to vent now.
So after urging, I went over to one of hootoo's sister sites, collective, and presented my reasons why I thought something should happen. I said that I liked collective a lot, but was afraid to go there and encounter someone we all know from *here* over there...so I didn't want to go there. I said that this person had stalked me and made me feel uncomfortable, and that I was not comfortable using collective whilst he was allowed there.
So suddenly, I get pegged for slander...what? And then the collectivites are jumping all over me for posting there at all, and how dare I? And who do I think I am? And OOOOH! I am SO ANGRY!

Okay, so we're only guaranteed one or two quarters of TAships over the course of the year. Well, I got guaranteed one, got two. Figured this Spring I would just have to bite the bullet and put up with being really, really, really broke (as opposed to the sorta grad student normal broke)...
And then, a friend in Sociology tells me that they need TAs over in his department. And then I go meet with the woman who gives them out, and she calls me Friday night and gives me a job!!!
So now not only am I broke, I get back the money I just paid out...
YIPPEE!!!

Control Freaks Don't Do Surgery

Well, just got back from the podiatrist. Remember that torn peroneal tendon? Well, here's the problem. The physical therapy, etc hasn't worked, so now, in two weeks, they're doing surgery. They're going to scope it out with an orthoscope, and then sew up the tendon.
I'm not happy about this at all, folks. Not happy at all.
I'm not happy about the anesthesia, or the loss of income (no work for at least 4 weeks), or, frankly, the necessity of having surgery. I don't know what the heck to do about all of this.
I'm scared and mad and just want to scream.
ARGH!!!!!!!!

Doing the Snoopy Dance

Yes indeed. No rushing to meet the deadline for me. It is after 2 in the morning, but the damned rough draft of my paper is done, all 38 pages (not including bibliography or title page). I know I have some work to do to refine it, but for now, I can breathe.
I am going to sleep in and enjoy a nice, long, hot shower in the morning, and then print it, make copies, and turn it in.
TA DA!
And then I am going to do the Snoopy dance in the department.

remember what I said about getting sleep this week? Ain't gonna happen. I've written 33+ pages Sunday, yesterday and today.
And now I'm getting
