I'm thinking overall I was in much better shape when I was eleven. Well, I was in much smaller shape, anyway.
Snowball, anyone?

anyone? I am yet to hear the first Chrimbo songs! I can't believe it. Must be the recession...
This time of years, shopping centres are usually decorated in green, red and gold and the awful Chrimbo music is in full blast!

I've been singing this song almost each day for years but I try not to bother other people with it if they DON'T START TALKING ABOUT IT FOR NO REASON! *rolls eyes*

I heard a German rap version of Jingle Bells in a shop today.
I don't think they played it on purpose though.

do you know, the s of the chorus of the old danish xmas song "på loftet sidder nissen" are the exact same as in a silly old german song about "grandma riding her motorbike through the hen's house"
i never realized that until the day we celebrated xmas at my in-laws (who migrated from germany to denmark in the early 50's). we started singing this old danish song and the german girlfriend of my wife's cousin stared at us in complete disbelief - then broke down in tears of laughter
it was only when she pointed out the similarity to me that i understood. i've since told my own family and quite a few others - and they never realized it before either

Ah, that sounds so familiar. Israeli children's songs are full of ridiculous cover versions of French, German and Russian songs. The famous piece by Schuman (I think?), The Trout, has been turned into a song in Hebrew about tulips blossoming and announcing the arrival of spring. How did that happen, I wonder?

Schubert.
"grandma riding her motorbike through the hen's house"? Sounds interesting, why don't I know it?

*dusts off the snowballs*
For the sake of tradition, of course
A couple of snowballs would be quite nice today actually. Feels like a sauna outside.
