Last year it was Maths, French, chemistry, biology, General Studies and Critical thinking- the last two of which happen to be very hit and miss. Two of my cleverest, most studious friends got 27 and 28% on module one of GS, and only one person got an A in CTsmiley - ermsmiley - laugh

Next year it'll be General Studies, maths, French and chem for A-levels. ALthough chem was my second-worst score, lol- I got the grade by 7 marks!

+German AS, of coursesmiley - ok

smiley - laugh da Quirm, that's brill. I would ask why, but ethinks it probably involves blog and am too tired for that right nowsmiley - winkeye

General Studies. How does one explain General Studies without being rude about it?smiley - tongueoutsmiley - laughThere are three modules for AS: Politics and Society, Culture, and Science and Technology.

So, for the first one, you get essay questions on current affairs and on interpreting articles. These are not easy questions- they are obscure and nothing whatsoever to do with the answersmiley - ermsmiley - laughMy cleverest friend got 28% on this module.

Culture.. oooo...er... that's about high culture, like Opera, Ballet, etc., compared with pop culture and you get one big passage about an aspect of culture, e.g. Shakespeare in modern theatre. You then have to answer multiple choice q.s and essays.

Science and Technology is again awkward. you get an extract about an obscure branch of science and then answer multiple choice q.s about it and other things.

Does that explain it? It's difficult to explain without detail. it should be noted that this A-Level is not that widely respected and it barely accepted by any unis

It's a rather short thing:
I drew an elvish coat of arms for Neil, but somehow it looked like a machine, with a propellor and a gearwheel. And then there's the fact that I've got big problems with inventing names, so Dimitri said 'You *are* Leonard da Quirm'. Well, and that's it.smiley - biggrin

I've now made another one for Neil and will make one for Mala too (I send them via e-mail)
Tell me if you want one too, but you'd have to give me your e-mail adress for that.

Ah!smiley - ta for explaining. That subject sounds a bit queer I have to say. Never heard about anything like that.

that's cos all ou Europeans study completely useless things like Physics, and are not enlightened by subjects such as this. We pity you.smiley - ermsmiley - winkeyesmiley - laugh Seriously, not understanding General Studies is a good thing

smiley - ermYowch! I didn't realise Austrians had the huge subject list, like the French. Mind you, in some ways is better, as I woulnd't have had to choose between lnaguages and sciences and would therefore not be in the sticky position that I'm in todaysmiley - tongueout

What's dietetics? And crafts sound good...smiley - ermsmiley - laughHave little idea of what it would involve. Crafts to me is wood turning or children's stick-and-glue sessions.

Well credit to him too!smiley - ok

thanks!(ooo...packing...smiley - ermsmiley - bubblysmiley - laugh)

Oh, I liked it to have so many subjects, I think it's good, gives you a wider range of knowlege.

Crafts indeed is wood+glue, but also clay and such things. You can chose between that and needlework. But we have both only up to the age of 14.

In dietetics we learned about food stuff. I can't remember much of it.

I agree smiley - erm Although attempting to do that with the English system is, as I'm discovering, a bit of a suicidal workload.smiley - ermsmiley - wah

(Note to self: It's like technology then, only more general.)

and that's a bit like Food Technology, only Food is a bit more genrrla that dietetics.

I'm fine. a little worried about uni and schoolwork and evrrything, but then again, who isn't?

When it all gets too much, you'll do my German hmk for me, won't you?smiley - cheerupsmiley - winkeyesmiley - laugh

Yes, true, I'm learning for my exams in the first week of October already, I still haven't read everything, but somehow I'll make it.
I didn't pass physics, so I have to do that again in november, but else than that I passed everything. I still don't know 2 results of exams, but I'm sure that I passed.

Hey! If you need help: here I am, just ask me and if I can't help you: ask Malasmiley - smiley

So far I have:
Architekturgeschichte
Kunstgeschichte which is at the same time as Statik
and 'Raumgestaltung'

I may also take something about constructions out of wood and another 'Wahlfach'

Tavaron da Quirm - Arts Editor

Raum is room. I think it's some kind of interior design, but what we'll do exactely: I don't know yet.

smiley - ok come and ask whenever you want

I also found out that I have two of my subjects at the same time, so I have to deside which one I'll do this yearsmiley - erm

I can't remember all of them, but I think I'll take something about wood constructions and then maybe something like furniture design or whatever, I'm not sure.

I know, i'm sorry. This place is incredibly addictive, and I have to try and work this year, apparently H2G2 is constructive enough lol. I've also been sorting out Uni stuffsmiley - erm. I'm applying for French and German at most placessmiley - ok

Ooo... My German teacher's happy with my progress, which has upped my confidence somewhat. My reading and grammar aren't too bad, proberbly thanks to you, my German-speaking internet friends, but my listening seems to be not so great.smiley - erm

How are you?

Oh, we have a German speaking assisstant.. where is she from? I can't remember.smiley - erm She said she lived near her uni, and I thought, Oh, that's like Tavsmiley - ok. Apparently it's a German/Austrian trend

I hope you'll be accepted on a good uni!smiley - smiley

smiley - wowsmiley - cool that's great!

Well, uni started this week and I had two exams already. I think I'll pass both of them, but with no very good grades. But passing is enough.

We started a role play game here on hootoo, well, Dimitri stared it, and his cousin, Elektra is now here too and takes part. (alsMala of course) we are there every evening, I go to bed earliest, and when I then have a look at what they did during the night it's 0ften about 80 long posts.

Today is the last day of the hootoo elections, we could/can vote by e-mail, we'll see who becomes president. (just a game, will have no influence I think)

I did thanks!

So do I smiley - laugh

Exams already? What slave-drivers. I've only had vocab tests since I got back, v. jammy I suppose.

What's the roleplay about?

Elections! What elections?smiley - ermWhere do we go?smiley - run

Tavaron da Quirm - Arts Editor

smiley - ok

I didn't make these exams in the last semester, so I had to do them now. One of them I haven't passed, so I'll have to try again in November.

Well, we are on a spaceship. Mala is a normal crewman, I'm an exobyologist, Dimitri a strange humanoide alien, his cousin the captain.

Hypatia won the elections smiley - bubbly she's now president of hootoo.
