And indeed we did, just. There was a 111 heat index at both Mabry and the airport, although Bergstrom didn't quite make triple digits.
Curiously, that 100° temperature was registered between 5.51pm and 6.51pm, rather later than the usual hottest part of the day, and just as the humidity dropped from 48% to 17%. At 6.51am yesterday the temperature at Camp Mabry was 78° with a 72° dewpoint, 82% humidity and a heat index of 80°, and my thermostat said 83° in here. This morning, 24 hours later, the same figures are 70°, 43° 38%, N/A, and 79°. Much more comfortable.

I was already awake when the thunderstorm arrived at about 5am. A furious storm with very heavy rain which has been falling, with only a few breaks, since then, almost two hours ago, and yet the 5.51am reading at Camp Mabry show no precipitation, and only 0.01" at the airport. Can it have been so localised that it passed between the two recording stations? Looking at the radar it appears that the heaviest part of it passed over Camp Mabry. I'll wait until the 6.51 number comes up before posting this.

I took the umbrella with me yesterday but didn't need it. Bright sunshine all day. Today the rain is forecast for the morning.
