For the last couple of days, there has been significant flooding in areas in Houston and North of there.

15+ inches of rain in 24 hours in some places, I heard, and more rain on the way from the line of storms that arrived here at 2.30 this morning giving us 1.14" in less than an hour.

Yesterday was a perfect example of how easy it is to be misinformed by forecasts if you're not in tune with how both they and the weather operate. Austin was in the '3 - Enhanced risk' portion of severe weather, which extend all the way across the south to the Florida panhandle by the way. That sounds pretty dire, and you'd do well to prepare for it because it might come your way. Did it come Austin's way? I heard thunder, saw some distant lightning, felt a few drops of rain when I went out onto the balcony, and Camp Mabry recorded only a trace. Meanwhile there were isolated storms to the north and south of Austin, one of which produced a 5" hailstone http://twitter.com/JustonStrmRider/status/1788739450018697630 when it was still out to the west and tornado-warned, and another, possibly the same one, which passed to the south of Austin (but only just) and was also tornado-warned. But in Austin? Nowt.

There was very heavy rain and some grape-sized hail that fortunately didn't damage my car while I was at work.

Glad to hear that BG It's been a stormy spring this year, and more to come. Maybe it'll be one of those years where the rain keeps on through May and June and helps to keep the temperatures down. Having said that, I think yesterday was the hottest day so far this year. Heat index: 90, thanks to some very low humidity.
