Probably as close to one of your Scorchio's as we are going to get.
35C / 95F forecast in Wimbledon this afternoon, currently 33C on my windowsill in the shade.
Opening the door is like walking into an oven.
The cheap swamp cooler I bought earlier in the year is earning its keep its 27C 80F at my desk in the living room.

The Met office says Heathrow got to 37.8C 100.4F this afternoon so officially "SCORCHIO", we just about got to 35C / 95F according to my windowsill thermometer in Wimbledon.

Yep, scorchio number three (in recent recorded history) for the UK, I think. For us, though...
Scorchio number 20, and some ferocious storms in the afternoon. At 3pm yesterday it was 102. An hour later, 79, then 74 for the next three hours, after which it's remained at 75 all night. This time 24 hours ago it was 81.

No scorchio (only just). But we have just started the (statistically speaking) hottest two weeks of the year, and the daily average maximum has reached its own maximum of 98°. I'm not going to check when it goes back to 97, so that I get a pleasant surprise when it does.

Normal service has been resumed. Scorchio number 21. We had a very brief, very localised, but very very thundery storm around lunchtime yesterday. Several strikes too close for my liking, especially with a big stack of stainless steel kegs adjacent. It was nothing like as furious as Friday's, and it didn't bring the temperature down as much or for as long. Later on I saw some reports of 60+ mph winds as more storms got going to the south and west of Austin.
Here's a curious thing. By this point in the summer I'd expect to be sleeping with no sheets over me, and yet I still have one on the bed, and this morning the readout on the thermostat said 79°. That's the first time it's been below 80 for weeks.

Looks as if we might get rain again today, perhaps another storm. I'm starting to like this August, despite the scorchios.

The rain mostly fizzled out by the time it got to Austin, but the temperature came down from 98 at 5pm to 84 at 6.00 and 79 at 7.00 before going back up a few degrees, but not before we'd already achieved scorchio number 22.

Another hot one in London, Maybe a SCHORCHIO, maybe not.
Accuweather have a peak of 38C /100F, but the Beeb predict only 36C/97F.
WE shall see who is nearer right.

Looks like the Beeb won this time, Cloud started to come over between 3 & 4 PM so I don't think it made the predicted peak.
My windowsill thermometer reached 35C / 95F.

It certainly isn't 1976, we have had the odd day of showers or a thunderstorm, and we had reasonale amount of rain over the winter.
I remember 1976, It was bone dry for months, then the long heatwave.
This is forecast to break again late his week and then back to Normal temps and rainfall for the remainder of the month.
Which will be nice sitting outside having a cheers>
