When you walk home at half past midnight you really shouldn't arrive drenched in sweat because it really shouldn't be over 80F/27.6C at that time of the day, not to mention the humidity/heat index. That's just plain bloody wrong.

Don't know, I've never tried it. But if you walk across black asphalt in bare feet at this time of the year and during the hottest part of the day you can get blisters. No, really.

Three days of 100°+ temperatures, and 32 days without rain. However, Tropical Depression Three of this year's hurricane season has recently formed in the Caribbean Sea and is currently passing over the eastern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula. It's forecast to move north and west into the Gulf of Mexico, and possibly make landfall on the Texas coast late on Wednesday. There has been a very strong ridge of high pressure over Texas for weeks (which is why we've had such hot, dry weather), and if it holds up in the face of what could develop into Tropical Storm - and maybe Hurricane - Cindy, the storm will be deflected east toward Louisiana and New Orleans, or west toward the northeast coast of Mexico. Hopefully though, the high pressure will weaken and move off to the west, allowing the storm to move inland over Texas and drop some rain on us

Cindy's a bit of a woossy name for a hurricane
Sunshine and 22C today. We're getting anytthing from 5C to 18C at night, which makes planning the blankets, duvets etc required rather difficult

J and G have a ginger cat called Jussie, who arrived on their doorstep all bedraggled and kitteny in the midst of Cyclone Justine in 1989
He is known as the catdog because he sits at gates waiting for us to get home, along with the real dog(s). I'm not a great cat lover, but Jussie gets me every time. He's a in 's clothing.
Oh, another sunny day here in Oz

Day 6 of triple digit heat (and a big one - we broke the 40°C barrier), day 35 of rainlessness... although there was a fierce thunderstorm off to the east when I got off work around 8.30pm, and for a short time while I was at the bus stop there was a magnificent view of an anvil head, coloured brilliant reds and oranges and purples by the setting sun But the sun goes down pretty quickly in these parts and it didn't last very long

Day 7 of triple digit temperatures Day 0 of rainlessness Water fell out of the sky today A most unusual phenomenon, and boy did it drop temperatures around here - by more than 20°F. I'm taking a guess at the rainfall statistics for Camp Mabry based on the 0.52" that fell Downtown, since they haven't been updated on the Mabry page.
