The Tyneham Evening Herald Sports Department
Hullo!
This is the home of the Tyneham Evening Herald's back page writers. Every fortnight (or thereabouts), we will be producing a column for h2g2's wonderful magazine, The Post, giving you a summary of the latest sports news from the Tyneham and East Dorset area.
Editorial
Our current roaster of reporters includes:
- Editor-in-chief Arnold Spirochete, a fat, gin-soaked, trilby-wearing egomaniac who has ghost-written a number of cricket 'autobiographies', including Devon spin bowler Wayne Shaun's Little Book of Text Messages and former Dorset opening batsman Godfrey Straightbat's There Were Nowt As Good As Me.
- Seasoned hack Troy Inch was made redundant from the Daily Mirror in 1980, then spent many years manning NUJ picket lines while spending his jobseekers allowance at Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese in Fleet Street. One day in 2005 he sobered up to discover that the entire industry had relocated to Wapping and that he had in fact been picketing a branch of Spud U Like for 20 years. Inch took the Dorset job under the misapprehension he was applying for editorship of the Tyne Herald, but has since shown himself invaluable in compiling regulars, particularly the monthly Women's Institute reports.
- Mackerel 'Mac' Capulet. No biography exists.
- Junior reporter and part-time photographer, Murdoch Bynumbers is the old soak that every paper has got and is trying to get rid of. Propping up the bar at the 'Fanny & Craddock' while watching Forest Green vs. Southport on Setanta is his idea of cutting-edge reporting. Still one of the few hacks who think that magnesium flash-powder is cutting edge, Murdoch lists his sporting heroes as Eddie Hemmings, Yannick Noah and Jean Condom, without bothering to give any adequate explanation into what connects a slow left-arm bowler, an over-achieving French tennis player and a French lock-forward with a silly name.
We're always on the look-out for new, talented individuals who are ready to take up the challenge of writing for the Tyneham Evening Herald. If you're interested, just leave us a message below.
