Why don't you use vowels? And do you count y as a vowel or a consonant?

Using my first name - which no has ever called me - I am a either a 4 or a 2, depending on the y. Using my middle name, I am a 1.

*wonders if we know for sure where that mayo has been*

For the benefit of Ron and Helen, you put mustard on corndogs.

Xantief, we're ready for another story about being a military brat. And why it didn't turn you into a warrior.

there are two main "schools" of numerology (Pythagorean and Chaldean).
The Chaldeans are simple charlatans and use vowels in their calculations. They should all be arrested and locked away. If the Y in your name is used in place of a vowel, it absolutely cannot be used. Many Pythagoreans would consider this an unforgivable insult to the science of numerology.

Ron,

We are fattening up a possum. If that doesn't entice you back, what would?

OK. Then I'm either a 4 or a 1. Do you use your actual name or what people call you?

It's nice to have options. I'm going to try Bob, Robert and R. Duke and see what I like best.

Numerology has many levels and harmonics. Two sevens, for example can be romantically compatible if they can learn to respect each other's work.

Vowels are used to compute your Soul Urge numbers. Note that Helen and Steve both have two Es, worth five points each, resulting in a soul urge number of 1.

With a 1 Soul Urge, you achieve a sense of contentment when you succeed in any type of competition. You need to have the sense that you are a winner at doing what you do. Winning makes you feel accepted and appreciated and these are keys to being fulfilled

My thought is that a warrior needs to exhibit the tendencies of a One. Does the given name or astrological sign determine this? Or something else?

We might discuss the various human archetypes in general: ruler, warrior, merchant, scholar, artisan, performer, explorer, healer, etc. Each individual carries a set of instinctive predilections and preferences which essentially falls into one of these categories.

For the army brat story: My family was of the 'warrior caste'. I thought myself more an explorer than anything else, but I had no choice but to go along with the indoctrination. I learned self-sufficiency but little else that was useful to me personally. Still, social expectations, as well as familial pressures, dictated my direction. I floundered about for a while, and finally accepted the fact that I was a 'loser' vice 'winner', which of course means, successful warrior. The 'game' never meant as much to me as it should. It took me longer than it should have, but I walked away from the warrior bit.

Not fulfilling for a 1 Soul Urge. What the hell, there are other horizons to explore. I only regret the wasted time.

What if your numbers say something different then your stars which contradict your anneagram...none of which tally with your actual self?

Leoalpha, You are obviously an Annegram five with a four-wing. An investigator, fascinated by off-beat, esoteric subjects, even those involving dark and disturbing elements. You don't even need to take the test. You're certified on the spot. For your own happiness, try not to get up to the five-wing level.

yes, same question I had, Leo ---

Like Xantief/Steve, I'm not sure about my Soul Urge I --its like completely opposite to me -- needing to succeed in competitions to feel accepted??? s'cuse me Pythagoras -- its the competitions that did me in -- need a coffee here smiley - coffee ....hang about, this could be a Firecloud special ---

Interesting Steve - the human archetypes - I'd like to learn more---scary, the social expectations and familial pressures that we are subjected to ---its inspiring what you are saying about making life changes -- really inspiring.

Somedays my fears get in the way and I find every reason not to make changes. I cannot stand seeing peoples' spirits getting crushed over and over - especially when someone makes a run for it ---I can't even read the newspapers. And many aspects of human history is at most times too much for me to bear.

However, at the same time, I know I have no choice --- us artists, thinkers, different kind of people -- we have to bust out of those pressures -- don't know about you, but I find on those good days when I can face my fears, I get deliciously zapped with enchantment and wonder, so its worth it .....

Be a good name for a band wouldn't it - Soul Urge 1. How about it?

hmmm -- corndog and mustard for me please, with extra mayo and sprinklings of wisdom-pepper -----

have to slink up-country in the next day or so to consider my origins.

ain't got no crackberry, ain't got no laptop -- so peace and quiet for you all for a while ---

if you got any tomatoes to chuck at me, do it today or forever hold your peace ---

which reminds me -- I say tom-ah-to. I suppose you say tom-ay-to. I speak what used to be called BBC English. Don't laugh. That would be
l-arh-f. I imagine you all inhabit a wonderful range of different accents from different states? Wish I could meet you all.

Ron -- if you do arrive at the campfire, hullo, and speak to you on my return from Sussex.

take care y'all

I cling to the belief that we are all individuals with free will. I think we can find bits and pieces in any astrological/numerological reading that would apply and bits and pieces that wouldn't. I suppose I am more like the 1 than the 4, which is interesting because the 4 name is the one no one has ever used. But there are things in both that are totally not like me.

When I was a kid I envied the people who moved around and had new things to discover and experience all the time. I felt trapped. After I married, I moved frequently because of my husband's work. And discovered that there are both advantages and drawbacks to that lifestyle as well. Then we move back here when F retired because my folks needed one of us 3 kids here and I was the only one who could relocate.

It has taken me a lifetime to come to grips with who I am and to find the courage to admit what it is that I want out of life. I have deep roots in this region. Deep by American standards. I suppose Helen and Ron would consider them shallow. smiley - winkeye My family has been in Webb City since 1880 and in the area since the 1840's. So there isn't a question of 'not belonging'. But I've always felt a disconnect that I was never able to get past.

My mom is in pretty good health, but she is 85. And I'm creeping up on retirement. I imagine I'll lose her about the time I'm ready to retire. And that will fit the last pieces in my puzzle of the Ozarks. There won't be any reason for me to stay here. I can leave with a clear conscience. I will have fulfilled my family obligations. Plus I have succeeded in dragging the library kicking and screaming into the 21st century. This means I'm leaving something behind for the community.

I know where I want to live and what I want to do when I get there. I'm keeping that to myself for the time being, because I'm not quite sure how I'll be able to pull it off. But you can't imagine what a relief it is to know that it's okay for me to make plans to do something that is strictly for myself.

Xantief's remarks about trying to do what's expected of you and fulfilling someone else's expectations for you is so true of my entire life. I understand exactly how he feels. So this little interlude is his fault for exposing a raw nerve. Also Phred's fault for the numerology thing and the notion that "You are a 1, so this is who you are". Sort of like saying, "You were born in the Ozarks, so behave like a hillbilly." Not that there's anything wrong with being a hillbilly. It's just that down deep, I'm not one.
