Unfortunately she's very much aware, Webby, but thank goodness she still recognises us and today when I arrived I got a weak smile
I spoke to the doctor and Mum has been diagnosed with Aspiration pneumonia. This is something new, and I have to research

and much love GB. I am familiar with the syndrome as my Mother also suffered from it! Know that I am also thinking of you and sending as many good vibes as I can.
ST did provide me with your current e-mail thanks; but under the circumstances, I will not send you an explanatory e-mail as I was going to, because it is of no significance at the moment. You concentrate on Mum and of course yourself.

Thanks scorp I'm having a day off visiting today as it's Consultant day and no visitors allowed during the day. As my sister & brother visit in the evenings there's no point in me going too, I'll be there tomorrow afternoon when the others are at work. Tomorrow marks 2 weeks since she was admitted and the nurse we spoke to yesterday said Mum will be in for at least another week. I'm praying the snow conditions don't worsen as I hate driving in it,

Take care GB, don't risk your own safety, it isn't worth it. You have enough to cope with.

Yesterday was the first day I visited where she wasn't asleep or slept through some of the time. She stayed awake the whole time and did nothing but complain! She only shut up when the came to talk to me. Apparently they have cured the pneumonia with antibiotics but Mum has heart failure, which they are treating now.

Apart from the complaints, it seems to me that things are improving
Wishing for better and better days.

Hey Galaxy Babe, it doesn't sound too bad right now, I'm really hoping they can get everything under control and that things would look up again soon. Take courage, best wishes from me!

I was disappointed yesterday to find her back on the catheter. I asked her why and she didn't have a clue, but I could guess
Mum is now very distressed and begging me to take her home, thank goodness she fell asleep before I left yesterday.
I am not even going to tell you the issues I have with the hospital's carpark, machines that issue the tickets, the queues paying for the privilege of parking, the actual charge, and the huge pothole at one of the barrier exits, which everyone is now avoiding forming an even more massive queue to try and exit

Been there, done that, in just this kind of weather in 2010. It all adds to the stress.
Keep warm, try and spoil yourself a little and take one day at a time.

I'm actually seeing daylight! Yesterday the came for a chat and told me Mum is almost ready for discharge to an NHS home, where they will teach her to get mobile again and look after herself. I've googled the suggested place and it's 3 streets away from where I live,

Goodness, that's a piece of luck. Fingers crossed she makes good progress, and it will lighten the load on you being so close.
Waiting for the promised 10cm of snow just now. Went to do a top up shop today and the pavements are appalling dangerous. It seems cars matter but pedestrians don't
Take care,

Still waiting for a bed at the convalescent home
The conversation today didn't go well, I don't think she even knew who I was. She asked me 3 times when the football is starting, I replied "I don't know" each time, then she asked me what my plans are, so I said I'm going home after I've been here. When she asked what I plan on doing tomorrow, I said I am going to a funeral. "Whose?" "Paul Purser's wife" (her doctor, not so long ago). "Oh, how is she, or don't you know?" "She's dead, Mum. Her funeral is tomorrow". "Oh. How is Paul Purser's wife?"
I feel like I've lost my Mum, even though her body is still here, her spirit is long gone.
