(other than when the thing decides to douse you in cold water half-way through hair-conditioning, of course)

I've been roped in to fit my Father-In-Law's new shower tomorrow. His has packed up, and he's not feeling well enough to fit the new one. I have been bribed with promise of a Sunday Dinner for the effort though...

Wouldn't you have got a nice Sunday dinner at your own house?
Surely they could bribe you better with
Just make sure the one you fit isn't a "Gainsborough" because the fitter who came here to measure me up for my new bathroom said the one I have (less than a year old) is *cr*p*

ah, a good shower cabinet for free is not a to be sneezed at
i know i couldn't live without my shower
years back i lived in a house with two bathtubs, but only used them twice, i believe
but given the chance i wouldn't mind having one again
a big heart-shaped one - for special occasions

I wondered about the "measure me up for my new bathroom" as well.
Luckily I was able to walk away from any conjecture.

This is quite an education - we buy all our bathrooms off-the-rack - one size fits all.
I will also refrain from conjecturing.
(no i won't)

Fitting my own bathroom was quite interesting.
The room is an odd size - 8 inches smaller than the bath. It turns out the people who fitted the last one knocked a hole in the plasterboard wall to allow the end of the bath to fit, and what I thought was a full stud wall at the other end turned out to be just a piece of plasterboard held in at the edges - one hard knock and I'd be through into the hallway!
It makes the O'Reilly Brothers in Fawlty Towers look professional!

The clowns who fitted my bathroom just about maanaged to get everything wong..... of course non went wrong until after the guarentee had run out..... three... or is it four years later, and we've only just figured out why we've had to replace the err symphon doobry in teh loo four times.... because they'd left a ton of plaster loose in teh bottom of teh system.... and the drainage pipe from teh sink...
The did a good job on the tiling... cept for the tiling round the shower Actually my tichy little bathroom is one thing that eventually may make me want to upsticks and find somehwere with a bigger one
I would however, highly recommend getting a seriously nice sponge/exfoliating sponge thinggy.. they're just so to shower with and a hangy metal shelfy bowl pot doobry thinggy so put thigns in for when your showering.... err if that makes sense
I hope they get it done before Xmas

Oh
So the fitting is for the ROOM and not the PERSON
Silly me it's the language thing again.
It's still one size fits all - you buy the tub or shower and start chopping the room where it doesn't fit.
Better that than the person, come to think of it.

I do already have a shower, so I know the bliss of having a hot one and pampering myself with lovely bubbly stuff and exfoliating scrubs complete with metal hanging thingy which holds all the bottles and scrubbing things, but it was fitted above the original bath to fit the existing pipes which didn't fit and the tiles had to be removed and new holes in the cupboard which holds my combi boiler etc etc etc. It's just a ruddy mess. That's not to mention the invasion I had this summer after they discovered the new outlet from the *last* job that was done strange I won't miss my bath at all, I never thought of it as my bath anyway, as it was here when I moved in, and the bathroom was probably built around it anyway. Oh well, if they come across any problems removing it, I'll move in with my Mum while they sort it and nip to the library to log in herecan you tell I'm looking forward to the disruption a week tomorrow? Stay tuned...I'll probably write a new journal "The bathroom work begins..." although I'll probably need a smiley
My daughter said to me last night "Yay! No more spiders in the bath!" That's one thing I've never discovered in my bath, in the boiler cupboard, yes, but the bath has always been inhabited by woodlice ~shudder~
