Congrats on your milestone. I myself just moved into 5th place for the h2g2 group. (marbike be me) If any of you are interested in streamlining the process, don't use the screensaver and have seti@home run in the background all the time. This will allow it to process nearly four times as fast.
I am setting my sights on spegulux next Of course I am now able to have three machines processing seti all the time.

Heh...well done!
The user of the day at seti homepage yesterday had done almost 50,000 units.
He is in charge of 45 pc's at his w*rk and has them all crunching units.
What a guy.
Nice to meet you, Marv, thanks for dropping by

Once upon a time I had control of a system that would really have boosted my seti production. Now I just sneak it on to my family when I cna get away with it.
Nice to meet you as well, it seems we may have crossed paths in the past but not often enough.

You say the sweetest things!
None of my RL friends do seti, in fact most of them don't own a pc.
They think I am a

I try to encourage my friends to do it as I see it as a benifit to humanity. All of my friends *know* that I am a geek, of course it pays the bills.
Being a geek is a good thing in my book

Congratulations, AGB, to your milestone!
I just made up a littel calculation and found out that you will reach the 1.000 milestone on sunday, 26th Jan 2003. I'll be there on saturday, 3rd May 2003. By reading through your journal I found out that you have two machines running for you right now. That explains a lot ... 5 units a day ... 8 units a day ...
I'll have to set up more machines for me as well ...
Anyhow, I'll keep you informed about the 1.000 units extrapolation

Yes, Jeremy, TCK is using his pc to give me 130 units, as we were living together when we started doing seti@home and when we separated the units were in his email address and I had to start from zero.
This is the only way he could give me back the units.
I'm very happy to be getting my score up.
Don't worry, I check the group every day, I got bumped down a place a few weeks ago and I was so well up on the members that I could pinpoint who had joined.
I usually do 2 units a day, blimey I hadn't worked out when I will hit 1,000 CPU's!
I know some people would think I'm a and probably a bit sad as well, caring so much about seti@home, but if you read my seti profile, I actually bought this pc JUST to do seti.
I had no idea I could find people to talk to, never mind meet so many of you - and find friends all over the .
So if it wasn't for seti I wouldn't be here - wouldn't know any of you.
What a frightening thought.....

And glad we are that you felt the need to help Seti with this project!
I am so very far away from my next milestone. I just found a list of the milestones that Seti recognises. after 1000 it is 2500
I hope to take over 4th spot in the h2g2 group by the end of next month.

I found out about the upcoming seti programme from my local Observatory group. I think that was 1998. I'd seen the film "Contact" and I wanted to be the character Ellie, whom Jodie Foster played!

I was lucky enough to actually help the Seti project in another way as well. I had a case with them to fix their firewall a number of months ago.

Yup. I fix firewalls for a certain big networking company whose devices are widely used for most internet traffic. The SSL (Space Sciences Lab) firewall was dead a few months ago and I had to help get it going again. It was good to be able to help in more ways that just cruching numbers.

Any gossip on why seti is so slow at the moment?
I am trying to update my stats and it won't.
Also I have emails from the seti~techdesk yahoo group that I belong to, also complaining.
