I just don't like how everybody get up in arms about wifebeating, while husband beating just makes people laugh. Not to mention that a woman can make a guys life misery without having to be violent.

Xan.. I didn't say anything about husband beating being any less. But the thing I heard about related to wifebeating, not husbandbeating. I'm sure it's just as horrible on either side.

Any form of violence, whether it be toward man, woman or child is completely abhorent and should never come to light in enlightened society. Unfortunately society isn't quite as enlightened as it likes to think and such things happen, and because they do, it's important that facilities exixt for those who are victims. There are more groups and refuges for women and children it is true, but people are becoming increasingly aware that men suffer too, so Xan, it's only a metter of time before the same facilities are available *hug*

A matter of time yes, but I'm guessing a long time. This is just one of those things that get to me. Women being more equal than men.

It's swings and roundabouts though Xan, in some things women get a better deal, but in other areas men get a better one. Eventually it'll all come out int he wash

If you're very concerned, see what types of support groups operate in your area... Become a volunteer, and if there is nowhere to volunteer, see what you can do about setting up a group. If you have strong feelings you should use them to good effect

I think it is better to in general try and change people's ideas about equality.

But for the ideas to wrk there have toi be the actual society based workings to back it up, it's not much use having a set of principles that wont stand up outside of a conversation. Stuff has to have a solid foundation
