Life! Don't talk to me about life.
The story of my life is a sad one.
It begins with a researcher who wanted to dress up as Darth Vader in a costume ball but was too short for the costume. She solved the problem by cloning herself and genetically modifying the clone - me - to be tall enough. In the process I was also given the neural patterns of the original model so that I would be able to act like him.
I didn't like the idea of the party at all - I felt it to be mostly ridiculous. She claims it was because I accidentally also got the characteristics of the model - excuses, excuses - you can't expect to have a clean conscience after enslaving a clone of yourself, can you?
Eventually I was sent to the ball. Did anyone ask if I wanted to? No, they didn't. Anyway, I had been programmed to obey the "Master" as long as the ball lasted. That was all I could do. Mostly. After spending some time at the ball I started to realize there was more to life than what I knew. I also noticed I wasn't totally a slave - I was able to make some decisions of my own and through practice I learned ways to avoid the restrictions that had been made for me and act as I wanted.
Still, my life was empty. Until I found S.T.U.M.P.E.D.
I don't know how my "life" would have turned out to be if I hadn't - a lifetime in misery, I believe - hooked with a bunch of disgustingly nice and friendly people. Luckily S.T.U.M.P.E.D. was recruiting new members and luckily I got accepted. At last I was able to live up to my principles. The life had a meaning.
But the ball wasn't over yet. The final challenge was yet to be faced. On the day of the great revelation at the ball I not only revealed my face but also the true me - and showed everyone I could do what I wanted. Imagine the feeling of finally being free, not having to be a slave!
I changed my name from the irritatingly impersonal "Person in Black" into Darth Noire (I kind of became fond of that "Darth"-part during the time at the ball) and am now a full member of S.T.U.M.P.E.D.
The reason I told you this story is not that you'd start making ANY comments about my background - all references to it or my formal "master" are largely insulting - and I do not actually appreciate people who insult me.
Beware what you say. And do. I do not forget. Or forgive.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
