Still pondering over the meaning of "to preside over" For me it's more like a guiding statement than to take absolute control, like the old divine right of kings was.

Luckily the US has one of the most modern, sensibel and liberal constitutions. Only needs a few more amendments. Like an amendment to the second amendment. How hard can it be to realize that Americans are no longer armed with swords, sabers and muzzle-loaders with flintlock ignition?

(By the way: Very few of them appear to be organised in "well regulated Militias" anymore ...)

I feel flattered by that statement, even though I was not present at the drafting of it. My ancestors were pretty feisty; a lot of them fought in the Revolutionary War (on our side, of course ). Then when the ar was over, they went home and fought with their wives.

Americans have every right to be proud of their constitution which has been the inspiration for quite a few others

And, since 2016, the puzzlement of many around the world. How did the checks and balances keep trump from doing as much damage as he would have liked?

Apparently some patient educators succeeded in convincing the child that he is not

Trump is just as clueless now as he was on his first day on the job. His handlers, however, have had a lot of experience learning to turn him back from disaster. It's been a steep learning curve for them, and they may screw up from time to time, but Trump does seem to be afraid of getting seriously burned. That's the only leverage they have over him.

My theory is that being on the news makes him feel real...he can get on camera or send a tweet that's such a whopper that only a fool would believe it...but he's back on the news cycle for another day. He loves to say stupid stuff Monday and deny saying it Tuesday...works both ways...

The president can't control a lot of health initiatives anyway, because health officials and policemen are mostly on the local level. Governors are the ones doing the heavy lifting here. At best, they are working cooperatively with city and town workers.

It'as a diverse country. If you're dying to eat in a restaurant, you still can as long as you do it in South Dakota.

Phred, Are you disagreeing with the White House'sprojections? How do you know what the right projections would be? Things haven't reached a ocnclusion yet.

A recent random survey of Chelsea (Mass.) residents showed that a third of them have antibodies for Covid-19 in their blood. The population is 40,000, so that means 13,000 infected people. Also, they did not test anyone who was known to have the virus. There are 2,200 "known" cases there, so adding 2,200 to 13,000 gives you 15,000 cases.
There are almost six invisible cases for every visible one.
