It wasn't presented as a forever situation. The peak in number of cases was supposed to be reached by the middle of a six-week period. By the first of May, give or take, we will know whether the original projection was valid or not.

This virus brings out the worst of my hypochondriacal tendencies. I'm always feeling my forehead to see i it's hot (it's kind of cool right now). I swallow to find out if my throat is sore (it's not so far), and every time I cough or sneeze I worry. Of course, I've been coughing or sneezing off and on all my life, and the Spring pollen makes my nose run. No wonder I sneeze!
I don't want any of this!
I haven't figured out yet what to put over my mouth and nose to cover them when I go out in public. I don't g out of my house for more than two hours a day. I stay away from people, I wash much more than I used to. (You don't wan to know how much I used to wash . Maybe you don't even care, which would be fair enough.)

The price of petrol is plummeting. But the car is full and there's nowhere to go!

Thats a point, I ought to drive to the supermarket and fill mine up.
But if I do that I'll miss out on the walk

On the one hand, they urge you to get out and walk (maybe exercise will help strengthen your immune system?), but when you do, they worry that too many people are doing it, and they are too close to each other, even if they're all wearing masks.
You can't get on the good side o them.?

Apparently the WHO have changed their advice on wearing masks outside for healthy people.

Ah, but who can be certain of being healthy? That's the big question. It can take several days for symptoms to start showing (you can be infectious during that time).

I assume that they think, that if you keep apart outdoors then the risk of transmission is low until symptoms develop. (I don't know)

Yeah... that's the problem. In places like Hong Kong, they had MUCH more widespread testing, so yeah, it makes more sense in a place that has more testing for "healthy" people to forego masks.
But here in the States and elsewhere where we have NO widespread testing, it absolutely makes sense to mitigate the spread of the COVID for as many people as feasible to wear masks when in public.
Keep in mind, we're still under rules to keep distance and wash hands thoroughly. Mask use is recommended/required only when social distancing isn't feasible, like when grocery shopping.

The start of the stay home policy here coincided with the introduction of a lower speed limit (accidentally). So: empty highway, still slower.
