Release the hounds !!!

Still raining here smiley - sadface games were washed out on the weekend as the oval resembled a double sized olympic swimming pool. At this rate we might have to sign Ian Thorpe up to play on the wing...

Gwennie

Yeah, you could get that Dutch swimmer (wossisname?) to play on the opposing team! smiley - biggrin

The sun is shining now, so we may not need to resort to such drastic measures...

Looks like it will be okay for training tonight, which is a pity smiley - winkeye

Hey Linus

Post 84

Gwennie

It sounds as though you'd like to skive of training young man... smiley - biggrin

Now that wouldn't be related to the sunny weather, would it? smiley - winkeye

Did you get my sports bloopers Email by the way (I think I sent it to your work address)? smiley - bigeyes

Hey Linus

Post 85

Linus...42, i guess that makes me the answer...

I've never been that keen on the training part, regardless of the weather. Much more fun playing...and drinking smiley - winkeye

Yes i did. I can't feel sorry for the bullfighters...

Hey Linus

Post 86

Gwennie

I hope the Email didn't get you into hot water with your new employer. smiley - bigeyes

It sounds a nasty thing to say, but when ever I hear of a bull killing/injuring someone at a "fiesta" (as they're so inappropriately called) or in the ring, then I always think "Hooray! One for up for the bull!". smiley - angel

I think that I would prefer training to participating in a match as I'm not really a competitive type of person and hated team/competitive sports at school. However, I really enjoyed cross-country running, discus, shot and javelin...Anything I suppose where I wasn't on a team with others pressurising me to do well.

Even now in my rapidly approaching dotage, I still enjoy working out and practicing Yoga on my own at the gym and find it frustrating if someone tries to intrude on my work-out by joining in. (Unsociable cow, aren't I? smiley - tongueout)

Now the drinking bit whilst watching others play a match, I can relate to! smiley - bigeyes

Best if you don't do that by yourself though smiley - winkeye

We have a bus trip to tomorrows game, which means things could be very ugly on the way home smiley - biggrin

Ah! A many-coloured bus ride home! Don't forget to pack some sick bags! smiley - biggrin

Have you ever watched a television series called "Only Fools & Horses" and if so, did you ever see the feature length episode "The Jolly Boys Outing"?

Hey Linus

Post 89

Linus...42, i guess that makes me the answer...

No need for those. We are rugby players, not soccer hooligans smiley - tongueout

I have heard of the show but not watched it to my knowledge...

Hey Linus

Gwennie

Rant alert! smiley - run

*Shudders at the merest thought of soccer hooligans*

Ugh! smiley - steam Those sad excuses for humanity really make one embarrassed to be British (More so than the England cricket team!) smiley - bigeyes

What's just as shameful in the UK at the moment is Sky 1's unhealthy preoccupation with "Ibiza" and its cheap and nasty voyeur-based fly-on-the-wall docu-soaps. It's no wonder the Brits have such a terrible reputation abroad.

In my youth, I enjoyed back-packing around the Greek Islands, not spending my summer holidays cooped up in a noisy, sweaty club or bar. If I wanted to do that, there were clubs and pubs in and around where I grew up...

*Parks her Zimmer frame and settles down to a nice smiley - tea*

I highly recommend that you sample "Only Fools & Horses" should you stumble across it Linus me old fruit! smiley - bigeyes

The "Jolly Boys Outing" revolves around a seaside day trip from a London pub, the trippers being of varied generations and follows their varied and frequently techni-coloured adventures! It is one of John's favourite episodes...If I could find a copy to send you, would you & Debs be interested in seeing it? smiley - bigeyes

Sounds a bit like Bali for Australians. They all go over to a tiny little overdeveloped strip around Kuta beach and get drunk with other Australians smiley - huh

I avoided going there for years because of it and only went to meet a guy I trecked with in Nepal. Long story, but he ended up going home the day after i got there which meant i could leave Kuta behind. I went to a few other places one in the middle of the island and one on the north coast. Sure there are still tourists but not those sort of tourists... for the main part anyway. It was bloody fantastic smiley - biggrin

I'm pretty sure it was on the ABC out here, so i can probably find it. I will ask if anyone at the pub watches it and has a copy...

I miss going to the beach but we'd glow in the dark if we went in the sea in this part of the UK as there are two nuclear power plants within a small radius, plus a lot of industrial chemical plants... Ugh! smiley - ill

Well, if you can't get hold of a copy of that "Only Fools & Horses" video (even in a local video store), I'll be happy to send one to you.

John's sulking about loosing the Ashes (again)! The poor wee lad! smiley - biggrin

Let me see now...

Still, I understand that the Kiwis didn't fare that well recently at cricket or rugger...smiley - bigeyes

I heard on the news recently that an organisation within Australia every year announces a list of its most popular "exports", Steve Urwin and Fosters being amongst them... smiley - tongueout

Actually, we love watching Steve Urwin on television, just to see what poor wee not so defenceless beastie he's trying to p**s of next. smiley - bigeyes

Hey Linus

Post 97

Linus...42, i guess that makes me the answer...

Who is Steve Urwin?

Hey Linus

Post 98

Oh! smiley - blush That should have been spelt as with an "I", shouldn't it? smiley - biggrin

Hey Linus

Still doesn't help me. I obviously don't watch enough tv...

Crumbs! I thought that you were joking and teasing me about my spelling...Obviously your mind is on far higher things than vegetating in front of a television screen! smiley - bigeyes

Steve Irwin is "just zis overtly enthusiastic Aussie guy" who fronts a wild life television documentary series with his very patient wife and brave camera crew. He goes around p*****g off dangerous wee beasties like sharks, crocodiles, snakes, venomous spiders and their ilk. John and are convinced that he must be completely uninsurable... smiley - biggrin

Congratulations on your cricket team wiping the floor with us (again) by the way! smiley - biggrin
