Mankind will do as it always does hun no matter what happens in the future.At the end of the day there is enough to deal with here and now, ask the Haitians. There is always someone shouting doom and gloom. Earthquakes, volcanic eruptions,you should check out the yellowstone convo thread Then theres the possibility that we shall be hit by an asteroid or two in the near future yada yada yada, I shall deal with it when in comes but for now I am going to make the most of my time and enjoy myself

Zero Earhquakes, zero volcanos, zero asteroids.....

Man carries on happily........BREEDING UNTIL THERE IS NO MORE SPACE!!!!!!

Mankind has certainly got out of control, but there again there is no one around to control them.People have tried just look at china with their birth control plans,now they have a bigger problem with females being kidnapped and god knows what as they have prefered male children to female ones and with only one child being allowed per family they have a younger majority of male children,which in itself will lead to further trouble later on.The only time a majority male population is desirable is at a time of war.

We're all alright... for now... I mean... Nighthoover hasn't even return yet... So the end can't happen at least until after the second suction

Thirty years go, Professor Isaac Asimov saw this coming...

He called it 'The Competition for Life'

Hundreds of years ago, life expectancy was around 40 years....You were counted as a Sage if you were fifty or more...And of course, you had large families as infant mortality was also horrendously high...

Population was more or less stable....

In the early 20th century, life expectancy was low, due to a prevalence of wars....

After WWII ended, we have carried on as if we were still in the eighteenth century, breeding to maintain population.....

But we are not. Now, birthrate far outstrips the deathrate, even in third-world nations.......


It simply cannot go on........

Asimov wrote in 1970, assuming a 2% population increase, year on year, in 2100, the population of Earth will be 50 Billion....

We will have outpaced food supply.

Even if we wipe out all other life on Earth, justto grow food for us, then we could feed maybe 1.2 Trillion..........We reach that population in 2280.....


Professor Asimov then moves onwards and outwards, to the end, where the whole Cosmos is a writhing ball of humanity....


When do we reach this nightmare scenario???


At present rates, in 5000 years time.

We took 5000 years to filla planet. Another 5000 years and we will fill the Universe....


Population control is needed NOW!!!!

Either that or you can kick start life on another planet. Maybe have an intergalactic game of snooker by knocking one of the moons of Jupiter into the storm spot,then wait for eveything to settle down and another storm spot should appear,this is where you have to put the next moon and so on until you have collided all four,haven't figured out the sequence yet but all the elements when combined in the right order are there, our own planets developement is a blue print. Each of the moons has valuable properties needed to kick start the process.Earth,fire,water and gas.
Ok the end result will be that Jupiter becomes smaller in mass as the massive impacts will knock it for six abit like our own beginnings with the big bang.But that has a positive effect on the resulting gravity. Eventually things will settle down as they did here and should be able to sustain life in the future.Only problem is that if they want it ready in time they should have already started the process.

Actually this planetary alignment that is supposed to be the 'End of the World as We Know It' is going to shift the worlds conciousness and mankind will be enlightened and stop taking from the Earth. Mother Nature has been getting her own back lately (Tsunami and Hati anyone) and in 2012 mankind finally wakes up to what it's done.

Eh? Have I missed something?

Mankind wakes up... has someone set the alarm? And is there a snooze button, I like a lie-in on the weekend...
