Become a character!

I was planning on magic.
I wish this game had hobbits. Gandark has always been a hobbit. (halfling, little teeny magical non-fighting person, whatever)
At least it has Time magic.

OK, like, how much stuff can I start with?
My wish list:
I'm the Time Magic expert person as much as possible.
When I got to be the an invincible immortal on my MUD, weapon of choice was a lightsabre, or my towel that, when flicked at someone shoots Wizard's Lightning at them.
But realistically thinking of what would probably be allowed, what spells can I have? Or is it just that you can just *try* to cast pretty much anything, and the DM tells you if it works or not, or what?
You know, I always choose all magic and no strength. Maybe I should have picked a male fairy.

Oh, by the way, I just read all through the backlog. It wasn't quite as long as I thought.

Personally, I would suggest you meet us at the temple, having gone there yourself in an effot to get rid of the antagonist who is trying to kill you. Or something

Right, I've got enough free time to get involved so lets see if this works:
I want to play an orcish blue mage. I know orc is normally a villan race, but there are exceptions. (Drizzt DoUrden probably being the most famous example of a good aligned evil creature)
Mograth Gu'Kraal (Kraal for short) was caught learning secrets which were supposed to be passed down throughout the line of clan shamans, not meagre grunts such as himself. He was stripped of his weapons and armour and left in the crag of Kuzz Ta'eath to die. But his stolen lore served him well and he managed to endure the bitter cold long enough to find shelter with a hermit, a human by the name of Garric. Garric taught Kraal what he know of herbcraft, philosophy and lore. Eventually Kraals strength returned, not soon after he awoke one morening to find Garric gone, a note simply reading "goodbye" left in his stead. Now Kraal wonders the earth looking for his clan, not to seek forgivness - but to deliver justice - Learning more of the world causes normal orcish callousness to leave a bitter taste in his mouth Kraal seeks to eradicate this evil from the world whereever it may be found, starting with his old clan.
Mograth Gu'Kraal
Orcish
Wizard
Blue Mage Specialisit
Some limited knowladge of herbcraft and lore (history)
Hunting Knife, Clothes, One weeks rations
Known Spells: Create food&water, levitate, clairvoyance and fire bolt.
Philosophy: Kraal's zeal is almost unmatched, his efforts in rooting out evil and mercy when he finds it have been likened to the spanish inquisition. This makes him a difficult person to get along with, but once he makes a friend he will give his life for them. Many of Garrics attempts to teach a more serene philosophy have failed, Kraal lives only for retribution - but maybe some chance encounter could change all of that...
So if anyones still admining this page can they tell me if its okay to play an orc - if not I can change the character. Also can someone point me in the direction of a game in progress which I can wonder into, it shouldn't be to hard for a wonderer to meet the party, and someone of Kraal's zeal should join most quests.

What would y'all say if I did something like, appeared onboard the airship, or flew up to the airship via flying carpet or threw a grappling hook onto the deck of the airship?
I like airships.

Is the frount page with the rules on. Hobbit is not listed anywhere. Orc is there, but its in a section marked usually only playable as villans so thats why I feel the need to ask for permission.
You could play a dwarf who grew up amoug humans, he would lack the normal underground skills of his race and would not have had the ususal dwarven banquets so would be a lot thinner. i.e. would look like a hobbit. In fact if you had him growing up in a disreputable crowd he might learn a lot of rouge type skills and philosophys i.e. act like a hobbit. Alternatively play a mage who is unsatisfied with his race, perhaps a pixie who is sick of being so small. You could then attempt a spell to change your race to hobbit - of course this may or may not work.
Just approach things with an open mind - in a fantasy game there is scope to do almost anything

Yeah, I picked an elf originally, but now I think I should have took a male fairy.

An Elf is just fine. Compared to other races, Faeries don't really have that much power, anyway.
And as for hobbits, maybe I'll add Taltals from Final Fantasy 11. Maybe /that'll/ do well for low-STR-high-MAGIC stuff ...

Dizzy H. Muffin Posted Sep 17, 2003
Okay, just added Taltals as a race. And I also added a bit to Dwarves. Yes, that /is/ based on Discworld.

Nothing wrong with basing things on discworld. Though Pratchett vetoed the release of a discworld roleplaying game. He didn't want people messing with his characters.
Can I have my orc?
