Danielle is in school because she is. She stares blankly and then decides that this time, like any other time, is the perfect time to hug Joe. She hugs him and smiles and lets anyone who doesn't know already that today is his birthday.
Danielle's Joe is getting older.

Joe thanks Scandrea, and eats the cake.
Joe blushes at Danielle calling him her Joe again . Kat called Joe her Joe yesterday, but Joe told her that he is Danielle's Joe and he wouldn't want them to fight over him. Kat settled for having Joe as her right-hand man, so that he could continue being Danielle's Joe.
That will have made no sense to any reader other than Joe, Danielle and Kat. Probably.

Cat gets it also.
Cat is still at school in June cause her and Dani live in the Southern Hemishpere and it's winter over here and they already had Summer Holidays (at the sensible time, the bit inbetween years!)

Danielle hugs Joe and kisses him too. He tastes like cake.
She says that she would have explained what Cat had said, but she was lazy. Ahhhh, laziness, it's almost half as wonderful as Joe.

Joe doesn't think anyone has ever described him as tasting like cake before.
Danielle seems to say a lot of things to Joe that other people don't tend to say. Joe is very happy. Joe kisses Danielle.

Joe tasted like cake because he ate the cake that Scandrea gave him.

Danielle thinks that Joe mustn't have been kissed after eating cake much in that case.

Joe has never been kissed after eating cake.

Neither has Danielle. She wonders what being kissed after eating cake is like... actually, first she'd like to know what being kissed normally in reality is like.

Joe would oblige, but cannot, owing to being on the other side of the world.

So does Joe. England can be very annoying at times.

Danielle wonders what could be annoying about a place that contains Joe!

The weather can be annoying, although England is currently experiencing a heatwave with highs of THIRTY DEGREES! Danielle will probably laugh at this definition of a heatwave.
England also contains Joe's younger brother. Look up 'annoying' in a dictionary and you'll probably find a picture of Joe's younger brother.

Muse WAS very strongly considering taking a term abroad in England in her junior year at college, but she has just decided that Spain would be better. Muse has just spent her first winter in New York after living in California all her life, and has realized what a joy it is to be able to FEEL one's fingers.

Spain is much nicer than England, although it does mean you probably have to speak Spanish. This is not a problem for Joe.

Khamsin went to New York last summer and almost died from the heat, he never wants to have to go to California
